Presenting the book
Lieutenant General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Chau Van Man presented the book "Luu Chi Hieu Party Committee, Camp 6B Con Dao - Memories and Pride" to officers and soldiers of the Political Work Department.

The first pages of the book clearly state: Con Dao Prison is known as "Hell on Earth". Over 113 years through two periods of French colonialism and American imperialism, this place has detained thousands of patriots and revolutionaries. With harsh prison regimes, political prisoners are always brutally oppressed, their lives are deprived in all aspects, but they are still optimistic and believe in the revolution for a bright tomorrow. With the indomitable tradition of fighting against secession and against saluting the flag of Camp 1, the political prisoners detained at Camp 6B are well-organized people with a steadfast and indomitable fighting spirit. In front of all the enemy's regulations and requests, prisoners at Camp 6B all say no: No communist secession, no hard labor, no wearing a badge (prison number), no considering themselves prisoners. Every time there was a roll call, a summons, or a letter from the family, the enemy forced the prisoners to say their prison numbers, but the brothers ignored it, preferring to not read the family letters but absolutely refusing to accept that they were prisoners with numbers.

Tyranny cannot shake the revolutionary will of the communists. Party cells and committees were born in the dark prisons filled with pain and indignation. They were the nucleus for the unyielding struggles, contributing to the victories of the Vietnamese revolution. The establishment of the Luu Chi Hieu Party Committee led the political prisoners detained at Camp 6B to rise up, overcome all circumstances, and fight together with the harsh prison guards. The members of the Party Committee were the nucleus in the movements against repression, against secession, demanding the implementation of the Paris Agreement... playing a pivotal role in the days of liberating Con Dao, leading to the establishment of the Provisional Island Committee.

Regarding Camp 6B and this book, Lieutenant General Chau Van Man said that Zone B of Camp 6 (Phu An Camp) was built by the US and the Saigon puppet government after the 1968 Tet Offensive. This zone detained political prisoners, those who opposed psychological warfare, the flag salute, and hard labor. In 1971, comrades who opposed Communist secession were gradually transferred from Camp 1 (now Phu Tho Camp) to be detained with comrades in Camp 6, Zone B, so it was called Camp 1 - 6B. At that time, the camp had about 800 political prisoners. This camp fought against the enemy and protected its integrity. On February 3, 1972, the Communist Party of Vietnam named after hero Luu Chi Hieu was established. In the middle of the prison, we completely self-managed the cells and infirmary 6B at the end of 1974 and this place was known as the "liberation" pit. After the Party's liberation day, the State awarded 14 members of the Camp as Heroes of the Armed Forces.
