According to Spanish newspaper Marca , little Aegir has been a fan of Messi since he was 5 years old, but has not had the opportunity to meet the Argentine star. Before the match between Inter Miami and Porto at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the boy in a wheelchair was taken by his mother to the fan area near the stadium entrance in the hope of meeting Messi.

Luckily, when Messi and his teammates were about to step onto the field to warm up, little Aegir waved to Messi. Messi took the initiative to step forward to sign the Argentina national team shirt the boy was wearing, chatted with him, and gave him a warm hug.

The whole incident was recorded by Aegir's mother on her mobile phone, and then posted on her social media account with emotions described as unbelievable. Aegir's mother thanked Messi many times, because this seemingly normal action, but it was the boy's long-time dream, finally came true.

"Aegir met his idol. He has dreamed of him since he was 5 years old, I couldn't hold back my tears. Messi, thank you for being such a kind and humble person, you will never understand how much this means to us, you have given our son something we will never forget, you are amazing both on and off the pitch," Aegir's mother wrote on her Instagram account, and did not forget to praise Messi as the best player of all time.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino reposted the clip of Messi meeting little Aegir and said: "It's really heartwarming to see moments like this. The joy on his face is something very special."

He also explained the whole story: "Aegir is only 13 years old and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) - he is extremely brave and I am very happy that we were able to arrange for him to fulfill his lifelong dream of meeting his football idol, Messi, at the FIFA Club World Cup. I wish him and his mother all the best."

"I would like to thank Messi for his kindness, his sensitivity and for showing once again that football can bring happiness to people through the simplest gestures and actions," Infantino stressed.
