Coach Nguyen Anh Duc was appointed to lead Binh Duong Club after a series of results that were not as expected. With 25 points after 21 rounds and 8th place on the rankings, the team from Thu Dau Mot has almost no goal left in the highest tournament in Vietnam.

However, fate sometimes favors those who dare to take risks. Returning to Go Dau Stadium in a new position, Coach Anh Duc is facing the greatest opportunity of his coaching career. In the 2024/25 National Cup, Binh Duong Club defeated Ninh Binh Club in a thrilling penalty shootout to win the right to enter the semi-finals. They will face SLNA, a team in the rejuvenation stage, not too superior in terms of professional level at the present time.

With the semi-final, Binh Duong Club is sure to win the third place. But for coach Anh Duc personally, a “consolation” title is not enough. To make his mark and be recognized for his ability, he needs more than that - a place in the final. That will be a turning point not only for the team, but also open a new door for the coaching career of the former striker born in 1985.

“When I was invited to take over Binh Duong Club, I thought a lot, because I had never taken over a team in the V.League. However, Binh Duong Club is where I grew up and spent a long time as a player, so I understand the team quite well, so I boldly accepted the offer," said Coach Anh Duc.

"In fact, Binh Duong no longer has any goals in the V.League competition, but there is still the National Cup semi-final, so I will try my best in this match to be able to bring the team to the final," the former Vietnam national team striker continued.

In the First Division, Coach Anh Duc once showed significant coaching potential. In the 2023 season, he helped Long An finish in 3rd place, the team's best achievement in many years. Moving to lead Binh Phuoc , Coach Anh Duc still built a stable, cohesive and effective playing style.

Not only that, Coach Anh Duc also pursued a professional coaching career after hanging up his boots. He completed coaching courses organized by AFC and worked as an assistant to Coach Park Hang-seo at the national team. With such a foundation, it is reasonable that Coach Anh Duc was given the opportunity in V.League and now is the time to prove his true ability.

The National Cup is sometimes the trigger for young coaches to prove themselves, especially in the context of the V.League which is always harsh and stressful. Winning a ticket to the final match of the National Cup is the basis for the team of the land of Thu to have more faith in a "supporting actor" who is gradually becoming the main character on the coaching bench.

Once a formidable “killer” in V.League with hundreds of goals, Anh Duc now has the opportunity to continue his journey as a coach. A new chapter is opening, and it will most likely start with a first title - something that even veteran coaches do not easily achieve in their careers.
