The US Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the first time in 2025

DNVN - The US Federal Reserve (Fed, Central Bank) on September 17 (local time) announced its first interest rate cut of the year, citing weakening job growth and increasing risks in the labor market, while policymakers are under increasing pressure under President Donald Trump.

The Fed's lending rate was adjusted down 25 basis points, to the range of 4.0-4.25%, and the agency also forecasted two more cuts in 2025. Among the members, only new Fed Governor Stephen Miran opposed, as he said the reduction needed to be more drastic.

On September 15, amid expectations that the Fed would lower interest rates, the US stock market started the new week positively, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite indexes both setting new records, reaching 6,615.28 points and 22,348.75 points, respectively.
