Tam Chuc Pagoda is the fourth place to receive and enshrine the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni - the National Treasure of India. This is a special event within the framework of the United Nations Vesak Festival 2025 hosted by Vietnam. The relics of Buddha were received from Quan Su Pagoda to be enshrined at Tam Chuc Pagoda from the morning of May 17. From May 17 to 21, hundreds of thousands of Buddhists, people and tourists in the province and other provinces and cities came to worship the relics of Buddha.
The event of bringing the Buddha's relics to Tam Chuc Pagoda for worship is to honor the Buddha's compassion and wisdom, arousing admiration and faith in goodness in every citizen and Buddhist; creating opportunities for monks, nuns, Buddhists and tourists to worship, pay homage, cultivate merit and connect spiritual beliefs.
According to the plan, the Buddha's relics will be brought and enshrined in Vietnam for people to worship from May 2 to 21 at 4 locations: Thanh Tam Pagoda (Ho Chi Minh City), Ba Den Mountain Buddhist Exhibition Center (Tay Ninh), Quan Su Pagoda ( Hanoi ) and Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam).
However, to meet the needs and aspirations of the people and Buddhists to worship the Buddha's relics in Vietnam, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has advised the Government and the Prime Minister to send a letter to the Prime Minister of India, requesting an extension of the display period of the Buddha's relics in Vietnam from May 22 to June 2, 2025. With the Indian Government's agreement to extend the time, on the morning of May 21, the Buddha's relics were brought to Bai Dinh Pagoda (Ninh Binh) to be honored to serve the worship needs of the people and Buddhist followers.
