The Music Talent Development Center of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music was established in 2011. In 2014, to create a playground for piano students - the subject with the largest number of students, and also to promote the movement of learning classical piano in Ho Chi Minh City, the center organized the Amateur Piano Competition.
In the first organization, there were more than 60 contestants participating. After 3 years of organization, the contest received support and response from lecturers and contestants from many provinces and cities across the country.
In 2017, a new turning point, the Amateur Piano Competition developed into the Ho Chi Minh City Piano Competition with the participation of professional contestants and prestigious foreign judges.
Including the early Amateur Piano Competitions, this year is the 7th time the competition has been held. Students, piano students at music centers, amateur and professional music schools in many cities in the country, especially Ho Chi Minh City, have gradually known, loved and appreciated the competition.
Many contestants have returned to the competition multiple times as a regular practice to test their professional skills after a year of hard work.
