Speaking at the Zeta Live conference in New York, John Sculley asserted that OpenAI is the “first real competitor” that Apple has ever faced. He believes that AI is not Apple's strength, especially when Siri has not been upgraded as expected.
Compared to OpenAI, Google or Meta, Apple is falling behind in the AI race due to the lack of groundbreaking updates. Sculley predicts Apple is entering the “agent era,” where AI could replace most traditional apps.
He believes the subscription model will become mainstream, as users will pay to maintain the service instead of buying a product once.
