Andrei Medvedev, who fled Russia in January 2023, has spoken about his time fighting in Ukraine as part of the Wagner Group. The fighter's lawyer says that Norwegian immigration authorities denied him asylum three weeks ago.

Risnes said Medvedev plans to appeal the decision, but there is no risk of deportation to Russia. The Norwegian immigration authorities declined to comment on the ruling, which was first reported by the Dagbladet newspaper, citing the need to obtain permission from the asylum seeker.
Medvedev stated that he was an orphan, joined the Russian army, and had served time in prison before joining Wagner in July 2022.
