Veterans join hands to build the homeland

Returning to their hometown after the country's reunification, the veterans of Thuong Tin district are continuing to promote the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, becoming one of the leading forces participating in building a clean and strong Party and government, and building their homeland to develop more and more.

Do many difficult things

Nearly two years have passed, but veteran Nguyen Dinh Phien (Thu Phu commune) still cannot forget the kindness his comrades have shown him. He shared: “I am often sick, my level four house has been degraded for a long time but I have no means to repair it. Thanks to the District Veterans Association supporting 40 million VND, and the District Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee supporting 10 million VND, my family now has a solid Comrades house. This is a great source of encouragement for my family to overcome difficulties and continue working and producing.”

Since leaving the army in 1990, veteran Nguyen Tien Vinh (Ga residential group, Thuong Tin town) has continuously participated in local work and has held many positions, such as: Chairman of the town's Veterans Association, Party Cell Secretary, and Head of the residential group.

Currently, in his position as Party Cell Secretary and Head of the Front Work Committee of Ga residential group, veteran Nguyen Tien Vinh has applied the knowledge of Party work and mass mobilization work that he accumulated while in the army to the process of handling the actual work of the locality. Therefore, for many consecutive years, at the Great Unity Festival, the Front Work Committee has maintained a great unity meal, attracting a large number of people to participate. Over the past 4 years, the Front Work Committee of the residential group has mobilized 100% of funerals to be cremated; mobilized socialization to make national flag stands for 471 households in the residential group; mobilized people to contribute money and labor to pour graded stone for 100m of road worth more than 20 million VND to make it more convenient for people to travel.

As for veteran Trinh Ngoc Tuan, who holds the position of Chairman of the Veterans Association of Thuong Tin district, he is always closely involved in the work and determined to take on new and difficult tasks to help the district complete its assigned political tasks. The most typical example was when the district carried out site clearance for the Ring Road 4 - Capital Region in the district with an area of ​​land to be recovered of 150 hectares, involving 2,096 households and having to move 2,917 graves, he and the Executive Committee of the District Veterans Association determined to be pioneers in mobilizing people to move graves to new locations.

“With the motto of promoting rights along with obligations, putting ourselves in the position of the relocated people to mobilize members, the Veterans Association and the district's socio-political organizations have mobilized 100% of member families whose land was recovered and whose graves were subject to relocation to strictly comply, without coercion,” Mr. Trinh Ngoc Tuan shared.

Always set a good example

With nearly 13,000 members and 6,741 veterans, accounting for 98.3% of veterans in the district participating in activities, the Veterans Association at all levels of Thuong Tin district is a solid support for Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially in implementing local movements and campaigns.

The district has 786 veterans who have been elected to hold key positions in the Party and government. Promoting the tradition of “Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplary - Innovation”, veterans have had many initiatives, new and creative ways of doing things to help local leaders fulfill their political tasks and build a rich and beautiful homeland. It can be said that veterans have participated in the struggle to protect the Party's ideological foundation, fight against the wrong views of hostile forces; actively promote the role of social supervision and criticism, and participate in building a clean and strong Party and government.

The Association at all levels has also established and maintained 35 models with veterans as the core, such as: "Veteran Skilled Mass Mobilization Team", "Veteran Law Enforcement Team", "Veteran Volunteer Shock Team", "Veteran Group Building Civilized Villages, Painting 3D Mural Paintings"... to best implement the movements and campaigns launched by all levels. At the same time, the District Veterans Association is continuing to replicate the "Safe School Gate" model to communes, wards and towns to propagate cadres, members, union members and people to voluntarily comply with traffic safety laws...

In addition, implementing Project 1265 on "Strengthening propaganda and dissemination of laws for cadres and veteran members in Hanoi in the period of 2023-2025" of the City People's Committee, the District Veterans Association is always the leading flag of the City Veterans Association, because it always focuses on establishing compact, small and flexible models to improve the effectiveness of operations and propaganda, helping people to easily receive and understand. These are "Legal Club", "Legal Propaganda Team", "Mobile Legal Consulting Team"...

Joining hands to build a developed homeland, the Veterans Associations at all levels of Thuong Tin district also actively help each other develop the economy and society. The Veterans Associations at all levels have exploited capital from the Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding debt of nearly 68 billion VND; borrowed more than 13 billion VND from commercial banks and people's credit funds; supported 3,752 members to borrow, helping 4,752 workers have regular jobs and stable incomes.

In the past 5 years, the Veterans Association at all levels of the district has organized charitable activities with a total amount of 3,832 billion VND. In Thuong Tin district, there are currently no poor or near-poor veteran households; the number of veteran households with a good and rich standard of living is 78.6%.

Assessing the achievements of the Veterans Association at all levels of Thuong Tin district, Chairman of the City Veterans Association Le Nhu Duc emphasized: "Veterans of Thuong Tin district always maintain the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, have correct political awareness, and uphold the sense of responsibility in performing assigned tasks". Actively and responsibly operating in 2022, 2023, 2024, the Veterans Association of Thuong Tin district always excellently completed its tasks, was awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister.
