Rescued 11 fishermen whose shipwreck occurred in Hai Phong waters

On June 20, information from the Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority said that the unit had just coordinated with relevant authorities to receive 11 Vietnamese fishermen on fishing boat QN 80058 TS who were rescued by a foreign cargo ship when the ship encountered an accident in Hai Phong waters on the morning of June 19.

Previously, around the morning of June 19, fishing boat QN 80058 TS was sunk by large waves about 13-15 nautical miles north of Bach Long Vy Island ( Hai Phong ), in harsh weather conditions with level 5-6 waves.

Immediately after the incident, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee directed the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center to coordinate with the Navy, Coast Guard, Border Guard, etc. to carry out search and rescue operations.

Authorities also announced the mobilization of fishing boats and other watercraft operating in the related area to participate in the rescue and search for victims on the QN 80058 TS ship, including the cargo ship STARSHIP TAURUS (Marshall Islands nationality).

At around 11:30 a.m. on June 19, crew members on the STARSHIP TAURUS discovered the victims drifting at sea, 10 nautical miles northwest of the accident site. They immediately deployed personnel and equipment to rescue all 11 Vietnamese fishermen and safely brought them onto the cargo ship.

Then, the ship STARSHIP TAURUS brought the 11 fishermen to VIP Green Port (Hai Phong) and handed them over to Vietnamese authorities.

A representative of the crew of the STARSHIP TAURUS shared: “After receiving the signal from the Vietnamese maritime rescue force, we immediately deployed search and rescue operations in the area and achieved positive results. We are honored to participate in rescuing the Vietnamese fishermen. This is the duty of seafarers, always ready to support each other in times of trouble.”

Receiving the victims, Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority coordinated with relevant authorities to take 11 fishermen to medical facilities for care and complete procedures according to regulations.

Currently, the health and mental health of the fishermen in distress have basically recovered.
