To acquire this rich collection of insects, scientists from Da Lat University and Duy Tan University traveled throughout Vietnam's forests, thoroughly studying the habits, characteristics, and morphology of various insect species. Many rare and unique insect species found only in Vietnam's dense forests and high mountains have been discovered, collected, and preserved by the entomology research team.

The 150 photographs and posters in the exhibition provided the most vivid and engaging visual learning opportunity for people to gain a deeper understanding of insect species in Vietnam. The exhibition also showcased applications of insects in daily life, including medicinal plants, food, art, and biotechnology; incorporated messages about climate change, pollution, and factors affecting insect populations; and promoted awareness of nature conservation and biodiversity protection.

The highlight of the Vietnamese insect exhibition is its diverse collection of over 200 species of butterflies and moths of varying sizes, shapes, and colors. Rare forest dragonfly specimens include the Duy Tan damselfly (Coeliccia duytan) – currently only found in Chu Mom Ray National Park, Kon Tum province; and the Le Cong Co damselfly (Coeliccia lecongcoi) – an endemic species recorded only in Ngoc Linh (Kon Tum) and Kon Ka Kinh National Park ( Gia Lai ).

The collection includes species of giant beetles, notably the three-horned beetle (Chalcosoma caucasus), the five-horned beetle (Eupatorus gracilicornis), and the flying crab (Cheirotonus jansoni).

The exhibition also introduces to the public a collection of other unique insect species such as stick insects, praying mantises, grasshoppers, and elephant cicadas…
