Da Nang: How was the opening ceremony for students transferring schools after the merger?
TPO - "When I knew I had to follow my parents to study here and say goodbye to that school, I was very sad and missed my friends and teachers. Today is the third day at the new school, everyone is very friendly and cares for me", Van Anh, a 5/7 student at Tran Nhan Tong Primary School, Cam Le Ward, Da Nang City, whispered.

This morning, thousands of students in Da Nang began the new school year. This year's opening ceremony was special for many students, as they entered new schools after their parents moved to live near their workplaces after the merger.
Tran Nhan Tong Primary School (Cam Le Ward) also has many students transferring from schools in Quang Nam Province (old). They followed their parents to "migrate" to near their workplace, nearly a hundred kilometers away from their old home. Photo: Thanh Hien. Tran Nam Khanh (class 4/4) after 3 days of school was still quite shy among his friends. On the first day of school, Khanh was brought to school very early by his parents, and the teacher gave Khanh priority to sit in the front row. Khanh said he had been here for a short time, and at first his parents brought him to school to apply for admission, Khanh was quite confused because he had no friends and no teacher. The homeroom teacher said Khanh was very shy, so he told his classmates to connect, play, and help Khanh study. Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Principal of Tran Nhan Tong Primary School, shared that this year the school has nearly 1,500 students. After Da Nang and Quang Nam merged, the school had more students transferred from the old Quang Nam province, who are the students that teachers in the school pay much attention to. "Coming to a new environment, the students will certainly be bewildered and somewhat confused. Therefore, I always remind the teachers, especially the homeroom teachers, to be close to and share with the students. Especially the students in their final year," she said.
Van Anh (class 5/7) confided that when she knew she had to transfer schools, she felt disappointed and missed her friends and teachers. After 3 days at the new school, with the special affection of the teachers and friends here, Van Anh was less sad. "Everyone came to talk to me, asked if I needed any help, everyone was nice. This school is beautiful, spacious, and much more spacious than my old school", Van Anh shared and commented that the opening ceremony at the new school was organized solemnly but also very joyful.
Mr. Huynh Tri Nhan, homeroom teacher of class 5/7, said that right from the time the class welcomed a new member from the old Quang Nam province, he took the time to introduce him to the whole class, asked his parents about his interests, strengths, and personality. And of course, he did not forget to remind the remaining students to get along with and encourage him.
This new school year, many schools in Da Nang welcomed students from the old Quang Nam province. The change in environment more or less affects the students' learning.
To ensure the rights of children of officials, civil servants and public employees of Quang Nam province after the merger, especially those at the age of admission to grades 1 and 6, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has requested the Department of Education and Training and related units to have a plan to prioritize the admission of these children to public schools in the area.
Currently, Da Nang has 486 schools that meet national standards. Of these, 191 are preschools, 146 are primary schools, 138 are secondary schools, and 11 are high schools.
