Da Nang proposes high-tech cooperation with Oregon state (USA)

DNO - On the afternoon of September 8, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Ho Ky Minh, received a delegation of leaders from the state of Oregon (USA), led by Mr. Daniel Loc Nguyen, Representative of Oregon, Chairman of the Economic, Trade and Small Business Committee, member of the Budget and Taxation Subcommittee, Transportation of the Oregon House of Representatives.

At the reception, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh introduced to the Oregon delegation the new city of Da Nang with space, strong development potential, and economic potential capable of competing in the global value chain.

At the same time, he emphasized that the model of a free trade zone and international financial center with special mechanisms will create a breakthrough for Da Nang in the coming time.

In the strategy of developing international economic relations, the United States has always been identified by Da Nang city as one of the key partners. The city currently has 97 investment projects from the United States, with a total registered capital of nearly 550 million USD, ranking third in terms of total foreign investment capital in Da Nang.

The projects focus on priority areas of the city such as: high technology, supporting industry, tourism , real estate, services. The city established a Working Group to promote cooperation between Da Nang and the United States in June 2024.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expects that the cooperation between the United States in general and Oregon State in particular with Da Nang will be strengthened in areas such as: high-tech manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, agricultural and food products, forestry and wood, trade and consulting services; research, market orientation...

In particular, the two sides are considering the possibility of focusing on priority areas such as chip technology, logistics and free trade zone (FTZ) infrastructure development.

The city is ready to facilitate Oregon businesses to learn about the investment environment in Da Nang, and support lab models to connect with international cooperation programs in the fields of research, design, packaging, and testing of microchips.

Congressman Daniel Loc Nguyen thanked the thoughtful and respectful welcome of the leaders of Da Nang city.

The congressman affirmed that the state of Oregon wishes to increase cooperation with the city in all fields, including the fields that Da Nang city prioritizes for development.

During this visit to Da Nang, the Oregon State delegation (USA) visited Software Park No. 2 and worked with the Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence; the Management Board of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks and the city's sectors to exchange information on trade and investment cooperation opportunities between Da Nang and Oregon, especially investment opportunities in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
