On October 26, the City Department of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch No. 1890/SGDĐT-VP to the People's Committees of wards and communes, schools and centers under the Department, vocational training institutions; universities and private universities on proactively responding to bad weather.
The dispatch stated that, according to the Hydrometeorological Station, Da Nang city continues to have moderate and heavy rains causing flooding and landslides in many localities. The Department of Education and Training requested heads of units and schools to seriously implement the directives and instructions of the City People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training, and localities on natural disaster and flood prevention; have plans to ensure the safety of teachers, workers, preschool children, students, trainees and assets and documents of units and schools.
Chairmen of People's Committees of wards and communes, heads of schools and centers under the Department (especially mountainous and border areas at risk of landslides and flash floods; low-lying areas at risk of flooding...) regularly monitor and base on the actual situation in the locality and region to decide to allow preschool children, students and trainees in the area and of the school or center to take time off from school (when necessary), inform the leaders of the Department of Education and Training, monitor, synthesize and report to the City People's Committee.
The Department of Education and Training notes that in all situations, when preschool children, students, and trainees are still present at school, the school must assign teachers and staff to manage, care for, and ensure safety.
Boarding and semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities must strengthen management and care for preschool and primary school students; and not allow students to leave when safety conditions are not guaranteed.
Vocational education institutions, universities, and private universities should proactively decide on students' attendance based on the situation. Urgently organize cleaning and sanitizing of schools and classrooms so that preschool children, students, and trainees can return to school soon after the weather stabilizes.
The City Department of Education and Training recommends that based on the actual situation and conditions, schools proactively develop plans to organize teaching and learning (online, assigning lessons, sending instructional clips...) when students cannot go to school in areas affected by landslides, flash floods, or flooded areas during days of complicated weather.
