
In early October 2025, at the Medical Diagnostic Center, Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, the City Association of People with Disabilities in collaboration with the US Medical Outreach of America (MOA) organized a medical examination, health consultation and free medicine for people with disabilities.
During the program, 13 doctors, nurses, and technicians from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland directly examined and provided health consultations to members of the disabled and children with disabilities in the city. People with disabilities received general health check-ups, especially dental, hearing, and vision checks, rehabilitation training instructions, and free supplements. Some special cases were supported with medical equipment and wheelchairs as needed.
Ms. Tran Thi X. (Thanh Khe ward) is disabled in both legs and moves around with the help of an old wheelchair. During the free medical examination organized by the City Association of the Disabled, Ms. X. was examined and consulted by foreign doctors and technicians to help her feel more secure; and to know how to exercise and support her recovery so that her legs no longer hurt...
Mr. Stephen Mason, Chief Representative of MOA, said that the health check-up program is one of the free humanitarian activities organized by MOA annually from 2019 to present, for people with disabilities and victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam in general and Da Nang city in particular.
Thereby, contributing to health care and improvement, creating conditions for people with disabilities and Agent Orange victims to access quality medical services, and easing the pain of the less fortunate.
Recently, the Department of Health, Thang Binh Regional Health Center in collaboration with the Institute for Community Development Studies (ACDC) implemented a health check-up for people with disabilities in the communes of Thang An, Thang Dien, and Thang Phu.
Doctors, rehabilitation technicians, and physical therapists conducted screening, functional assessments, and assessed the care needs of 180 disabled people. The special feature of this activity is that if a disabled person cannot go to the health station, a doctor will come to their home to examine them.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh, Department of Traditional Medicine - Rehabilitation, Thang Binh Regional Medical Center said: "This is the fourth year that ACDC Institute has implemented the health examination project for people with disabilities in the Thang Binh area. Thereby, creating conditions for people with disabilities to have general examinations, functional assessment, assessment of care needs and health consultation, improving the quality of life".
On this occasion, Thang Binh Regional Medical Center coordinated with Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital to organize screening examinations and provide free orthopedic devices for people with mobility difficulties, helping people with disabilities improve their mobility and make their lives more convenient.
