In the old Hoa Bac commune (now Hai Van ward, Da Nang city), the authorities recorded a crack tens of meters long on the road surface. This crack was determined to be caused by the roadbed below (coinciding with route 601) being eroded after many days of heavy rain. The mountainous terrain, along with water-saturated soil and rocks, increases the risk of landslides during the rainy and stormy season.

As soon as the incident was discovered, the Da Nang Traffic Police Department coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board and the road management unit to put up ropes, place warning signs, and restrict vehicles from passing through the area. The Hoa Hiep Traffic Police Station also organized traffic flow, guiding vehicles to turn back to the Hai Van tunnel, and absolutely not going into the section of road where the cracks appeared, to ensure safety.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thanh Hong, Head of the Traffic Police Department of Da Nang Police, said that the authorities have increased patrols along the route to monitor the situation and promptly regulate traffic. “We are determined not to allow vehicles to circulate or stop in mountainous areas at risk of landslides. If isolated in heavy rain conditions, the risk will be very high,” Lieutenant Colonel Hong emphasized.

Meanwhile, at Km 12 and 14 in Hue city, heavy rain and flood from upstream caused landslides and completely blocked the La Son - Tuy Loan highway. Hue city traffic police organized traffic diversion from Phu Loc intersection, guiding vehicles to move to National Highway 1 instead of continuing onto the highway. This regulation was implemented promptly to reduce congestion and ensure traffic safety.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, the Da Nang and Hue Traffic Police are working closely to monitor weather developments, assess the impact of the roadbed, as well as the risk of further cracking and landslides. If necessary, plans to close the local route or carry out emergency construction will be implemented to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

The La Son - Tuy Loan Expressway is an important traffic route, connecting two major economic and social centers of the Central region, Da Nang and Hue. Therefore, the damage and disruption on the route not only causes difficulties for vehicles but also seriously affects the transportation of goods, people's lives and production and business activities.

In the context of complicated heavy rain, authorities recommend that people and drivers proactively monitor traffic information, choose appropriate routes and strictly follow the instructions of authorities to ensure safety.
