The cause of the exceptionally heavy rain in the Central provinces and cities is the combination of many weather patterns: low-level cold air, the tropical convergence zone lifting the axis from the south, and the humid easterly wind field operating at an altitude of 1,500 - 5,000m.
This is a typical weather combination that often causes prolonged heavy rains in this area.

It is forecasted that in the next two days, the combination of cold air, tropical convergence zone and easterly winds will continue to maintain strong intensity. From the evening of October 27 to the end of October 29, the area from the south of Quang Tri to Da Nang city and the east of Quang Ngai province will continue to have heavy to very heavy rain.
Specifically, the southern Quang Tri area and the eastern Quang Ngai province will have rainfall of 200 - 400mm, locally over 700mm. In Hue city and Da Nang, rainfall will be 300 - 500mm, locally over 800mm. Meanwhile, the area from Ha Tinh to the north of Quang Tri will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 100 - 200mm, locally over 350mm.

During the night of October 29 and 30, when the east wind gradually weakens, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang city and the east of Quang Ngai province will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 50 - 100mm, locally over 200mm.
From the night of October 30, heavy rain will gradually decrease in the south and move up to the north Central region.

According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem, from now until the end of 2025, the East Sea is expected to have about 2-3 storms or tropical depressions active, of which 1-2 are likely to directly affect our country.
During the period from now until the first half of December 2025, moderate and heavy rains are expected to continue in the Central region, mainly concentrated from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak.

In November 2025, total rainfall across most of the country is forecast to be 10-30% higher than the average of many years, and even higher in some places. The North will maintain a level approximately equal to the average of many years; however, the northern mountainous region is likely to be 10-20% lower than the same period.
In December 2025, the total rainfall in the provinces and cities from Quang Tri to Da Nang and the eastern region from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak is expected to be 250 - 580mm, 50 - 150mm higher than the average of many years. For the Northern region and Thanh Hoa - Ha Tinh provinces, the rainfall is expected to be 15 - 40mm. The remaining areas are forecast to have a total rainfall of 40 - 80mm, 10 - 40mm higher than the average of many years in the same period.
