Mountainous areas ensure evacuation of people from landslide areas to safety

DNO - Due to prolonged heavy rains, mountainous localities proactively evacuated people from areas at risk of landslides and flash floods. Functional forces, militia and local authorities urgently relocated and arranged safe shelters at cultural houses and schools, ensuring food and necessities, contributing to minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.

* In Tra Van commune , heavy rains lasting from October 25 to the morning of October 27 caused landslides on many road sections, including 23 points on routes DH5, DH8 and the road from Tra Vinh commune to Dak Ru. Two major landslides at Ong Sinh and Ong Bich peaks (village 1) temporarily cut off the vital traffic route from the center of Tra Van commune to Nam Tra My commune.

Local authorities mobilized militia and business vehicles to support step 1 on October 27; at the same time, they placed warning signs at deep erosion sites.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh, Chairman of Tra Van Commune People's Committee, said that up to now, the locality has organized the evacuation of 52 households with 218 people in Ong Hung peak (village 3) to a safe place in the Dak Buon bridge area. People have been arranged safe accommodation, with enough food, drinking water and essential necessities.

In addition, the locality also temporarily suspended teaching activities during the day to ensure the safety of students. At Tra Van Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, heavy rain caused a landslide behind the dining and dormitory area; the school coordinated with functional forces to temporarily reinforce it.

The Commune People's Committee reserves food, instant noodles, cooking oil and gasoline at disaster shelters, ensuring people can survive for 7-10 days if isolated.

* Meanwhile, in Tra Doc commune , the local government established 8 working groups to go to each village and residential area at risk of being affected to propagate, mobilize, and support evacuation to a safe place.

By 2:00 p.m. on October 27, Tra Doc commune had evacuated 141 households with 620 people, an increase of 18 households compared to the initial plan. Of which, village 2 had 10 households (41 people), village 3 had 10 households (64 people), village 5 had 26 households (113 people), village 6 had 41 households (175 people), village 7 had 23 households (106 people), village 8 had 12 households (72 people) and village 9 had 9 households (49 people).

In particular, at Ong Doan peak (village 5), the support force moved two paralyzed elderly people and a newborn baby to Tra Bui Commune Health Station (old) for care and health monitoring.

Heavy rain also caused landslides in many locations: DH8 route (village 7) had 5 points, Dong Truong Son route had 7 points that have been initially fixed, Nuoc Lia area (village 6) and the road to Ong Xa peak (village 9) continued to have new landslides.

Some households suffered damage to their houses, such as: Mr. Ho Van Long's house (Mr. Xiem's ​​house, village 9) had its wall collapsed; Mr. Ho Ba Ngoc and Mrs. Ho Thi Hien's house (village 5) had their slope collapsed, causing the roof behind their house to collapse. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

* At the border commune of La Dee , Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune Bui The Anh said that the locality deployed the police and military forces of the commune to coordinate with the Border Guard to overcome the consequences of the landslide that flooded into a house in Dac Penh village, transporting property and mobilizing the family to a safe place.

In addition, mobilize 4 households in Dac Ooc village located in an area with high risk of landslides to go to the village cultural house according to the commune's plan, blocking 1 road for people to travel due to high risk of landslides.
