On the afternoon of October 26 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, leaders of ASEAN countries and US President Donald Trump attended the 13th ASEAN-US Summit.
At the Conference, ASEAN leaders appreciated the role of the United States in promoting dialogue, building trust and maintaining regional stability.
Countries acknowledged President Donald Trump's efforts in promoting peace , especially supporting dialogue between Thailand and Cambodia.
ASEAN-US relations continue to grow strongly, with two-way trade in 2024 reaching more than 453 billion USD, the United States is ASEAN's second largest trading partner and largest investor.
The two sides have completed the entire Action Plan 2021-2025, including the project on the new generation ASEAN Single Window (ASW 2.0).
President Trump affirmed that he continues to consider Southeast Asia a focus of US policy and committed to close cooperation with ASEAN.
Speaking at the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed four major orientations to develop ASEAN-US cooperation strongly, substantially and effectively in the coming time.
These include promoting economic, trade and investment connectivity; stepping up cooperation in digital transformation, innovation and energy security; enhancing cyber security and preventing transnational crimes; and enhancing cooperation, maintaining regional peace, security and stability.
At the end of the Conference, ASEAN and US Leaders adopted the “ASEAN-US Joint Vision Statement on a Stronger, Safer and More Prosperous Region,” as strategic orientation for the new phase of cooperation./.
