On the afternoon of October 26th at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with leaders of ASEAN countries and US President Donald Trump, attended the 13th ASEAN-US Summit.
At the conference, ASEAN leaders highly appreciated the role of the United States in promoting dialogue, building trust, and maintaining regional stability.
Countries acknowledge President Donald Trump's efforts in promoting peace , particularly in supporting dialogue between Thailand and Cambodia.
ASEAN-US relations continue to flourish, with bilateral trade exceeding $453 billion in 2024, making the US ASEAN's second-largest trading partner and largest investor.
Both sides have finalized the entire Action Plan 2021-2025, which includes the ASEAN Next Generation Single Window (ASW 2.0) project.
President Trump affirmed that he continues to consider Southeast Asia a central focus of U.S. policy and pledged close cooperation with ASEAN.
Speaking at the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed four major directions to promote strong, substantive, and effective ASEAN-US cooperation in the coming period.
This includes promoting economic, trade, and investment connectivity; boosting cooperation in digital transformation, innovation, and energy security; strengthening cybersecurity and combating transnational crime; and enhancing cooperation to maintain regional peace, security, and stability.
At the conclusion of the Summit, ASEAN and US Leaders adopted the “ASEAN-US Joint Vision Statement on a Stronger, Safer and More Prosperous Region,” which serves as a strategic guideline for cooperation in the new phase.
