Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training adjusts teacher recruitment needs for the 2025-2026 school year

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the adjustment of recruitment needs for civil servants working in public service units under the Department and public service units under the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City, phase 1, school year 2025-2026.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed that after educational institutions reviewed the actual recruitment needs at educational institutions, many adjustments were made to the actual recruitment needs.

Accordingly, the total demand for recruiting teachers from preschool to high school in the city is 5,729 teachers, a decrease of 668 recruitment targets compared to the previous announcement No. 1250/TB-SGDĐT dated August 12, 2025 on recruiting civil servants to work in affiliated public service units and public service units under the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones.

Specifically, for public service units under the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the recruitment demand is 670 civil servants for teacher positions, including: Region 1 (former Ho Chi Minh City): 462 civil servants; Region 2 (former Binh Duong province): 152 civil servants; Region 3 (former Ba Ria - Vung Tau province): 56 civil servants.

For public service units under the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones, the recruitment demand is 5,059 civil servants for teacher positions. Of which, the old Region 1 of Ho Chi Minh City is 2,736 civil servants; the old Region 2 of Binh Duong is 1,707 civil servants; the old Region 3 of Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 616 civil servants.

In particular, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also adjusted the number of candidates who can register for recruitment. Each candidate participating in the teacher recruitment can only register for 1 school, instead of 2 as previously announced.

In the 2025-2026 school year, for the first time, teacher recruitment at all levels from preschool to high school will be carried out by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in line with the decentralization of local government operations to two levels from July 1, 2025.

In previous school years, the recruitment of teachers from junior high school level down was carried out by the People's Committees of districts; the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City only recruited high school teachers.

This year, the recruitment of teachers is organized by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City in 2 rounds:

Round 1: Check the application requirements on the application form according to the requirements of the job position. If the requirements are met, the applicant will be allowed to participate in round 2.

Round 2: Practical exam with content: testing knowledge and professional skills of candidates according to the requirements of the job position to be recruited. Exam time: maximum 30 minutes/candidate (including no more than 15 minutes of preparation).

From August 15 to September 18: Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training reviews applications and notifies qualified candidates for round 2 (end of round 1).

From September 22 to 25: Round 2 - practical exam. In this round, candidates will take the exam at separate exam locations according to the teacher position (preschool, primary school, middle school, high school) according to the registered area, including area 1, area 2, area 3. Round 2 exam will be held at the same time at the exam locations. From September 25 to 27, recruitment results will be recognized.

From October 1 to November 15, successful candidates will receive their assignments at the school where they were recruited.
