Da Nang - Developing the semiconductor industry, affirming its position as a new technology center

According to the Investment Promotion Program 2025, there are currently 32 projects that are of interest to domestic and international investors, especially from countries with strengths in technology such as Korea, Japan, the United States, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. Prominent among these are projects on semiconductors, seaports, airports, and free trade zones, opening up great expectations for the city's breakthrough in the new period.

In mid-April 2025, Da Nang officially approved the investment policy to build the Project of Advanced Packaging Technology Laboratory for Semiconductor Microchips (LAB-FAB), with a total investment of about 1,800 billion VND at Software Park No. 2. This is a specific step to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and the National Strategy on Semiconductor Industry Development to 2030, with a vision to 2050 according to Decision 1018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Da Nang Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence Research and Training Center (DSAC) in collaboration with Vikki Digital Bank organized the opening of semiconductor microchip and artificial intelligence training classes.

The LAB-FAB project not only serves as a center for technology research and development, but also serves as a testing, training, and technical service provider to support businesses in the industry. Thereby, it contributes significantly to the completion of the city's semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.

In March 2025, Da Nang also recorded many notable milestones in the high-tech sector such as the groundbreaking ceremony of the Da Nang Data Center at the High-Tech Park, the opening of the FPT Corporation's High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center at Software Park No. 2. This R&D Center alone aims to gather 500 technology experts in 2025 and is the place to develop 100% of FPT's new products, expected to bring about 10 products to the market each year.

Not only focusing on infrastructure, Da Nang is also a pioneer in training high-quality human resources. The Da Nang Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence Research and Training Center (DSAC) in collaboration with Vikki Digital Bank organized training courses for more than 80 lecturers, students and engineers. Vikki also invested 100 billion VND in the first year to build a lab, purchase equipment and develop modern curriculum.

From February 27 to March 25, 2025, Da Nang reviewed a total of 20 innovative startup projects in the fields of microchips and AI. Many of them have been granted investment decisions, contributing to the formation of a strong local innovation community. This is a positive signal that Da Nang is on the right track in its strategy to become a regional high-tech hub.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the semiconductor industry is one of the important industries with high value and plays a central role in the modern technological revolution. Da Nang is located in the center of the country and the region, having diplomatic and economic relations with most of the countries that are strong in the semiconductor industry.

Da Nang City leaders are determined to implement many solutions to attract businesses to invest in the fields of high technology, semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Da Nang has a highly qualified and well-trained human resource along with political stability, technical infrastructure, convenient transportation, especially the attention of Government leaders, the determination of local authorities in creating a legal corridor as well as preferential mechanisms to support specific investments in the development of the semiconductor industry.

Mr. Chinh added that the above advantages have created favorable conditions for Da Nang to become the country's high-tech center with a focus on semiconductor microchips, as set out in Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW dated May 13, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the 12th Politburo on building and developing Da Nang city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Currently, the world's leading semiconductor design enterprises such as Synopsys and Marvell are present in Da Nang. Nvidia, Qualcom, Intel... have come to survey investment opportunities in Da Nang and are planning to cooperate in training high-quality human resources in the city. Foxlink Group, one of the leading enterprises of Taiwan (China) also invested 135 million USD in Da Nang and is planning to expand in the near future.

With the synchronous coordination between the government, businesses and international organizations, along with the spirit of “faster, more decisive and more responsible”, Da Nang is gradually realizing the vision of developing the semiconductor and high-tech industry, making the city an attractive destination in the eyes of global investors.
