Vesak 2025: Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha organizes vegetarian buffet at Vietnam National Pagoda

On the morning of April 12, Venerable Thich Thuan Tai, Deputy Head and Chief Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Economic and Financial Committee, said that the vegetarian buffet program will be held at Vietnam Quoc Tu from 4-6 pm on April 20 (ie March 23 of the lunar calendar).

This activity is organized to mobilize and create funds to donate to Buddhist activities on the occasion of the United Nations Vesak 2025, which will be held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as to donate to Buddhist activities of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City, specialized committees, Executive Committees of districts, towns and Thu Duc City.

This year's vegetarian buffet program has 80 dishes and drinks made by the pagodas.

Accordingly, the vegetarian buffet program will have a total of 80 dishes and drinks prepared by pagodas with members of the Economic - Financial Board.

The vegetarian buffet ticket price is 200,000 VND/ticket. People and Buddhists who want to participate in the vegetarian buffet can contact the Buddhist Sangha in districts, towns and Thu Duc City or go to the gate of Viet Nam Quoc Tu to buy tickets directly. The program is expected to last for 2 hours.

This is the third time the Economic and Financial Committee has organized a vegetarian buffet. The previous two times, the organizing committee donated 1 billion VND for Buddhist activities. This year, it is expected to continue donating 1 billion VND.

At the same time, on the occasion of the first Vesak festival held in Ho Chi Minh City, the Economic - Financial Department also crafted a 10cm high Buddha's birthday statue, with the words Vesak Ho Chi Minh City on the statue's base to serve Buddhists and people to buy as souvenirs. The 2025 United Nations Vesak Celebration hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will take place from May 6 to May 8, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City with the theme "Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Wisdom for World Peace and Sustainable Development".

This is the fourth time the United Nations Vesak Festival has been held in Vietnam after three successful hostings in 2008 (at the My Dinh National Convention Center, Hanoi ), 2014 (at Bai Dinh Pagoda, Ninh Binh) and 2019 (at Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ha Nam).
