Indian Ambassador appreciates cooperation in preserving My Son temple complex

(QNO) - Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet - Director of My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board said that on June 22, Mr. Sandeep Arya - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam and his wife visited and worked at My Son temple complex (Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district).

Reporting on the ongoing conservation and restoration projects of the E and F tower groups, Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet thanked the Indian Government for its support in the conservation of the My Son tower groups.

In particular, the expertise and professionalism of experts from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) were highly appreciated, especially in their close coordination with the technical staff of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board during the project implementation.

Up to now, after a short time of implementation, some project items have been on schedule, design documents and achieved good results such as the renovation of gate F2, gate E2, the western wall of group E, F...

Highly appreciating the results of cooperation in implementing the My Son conservation project from 2017 to present, Mr. Sandeep Arya - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India said that this is a vivid demonstration of the friendly relationship between the two countries, especially in the field of culture and conservation of precious heritage values ​​of humanity.

The Ambassador also praised the working spirit, expertise and professionalism of the Vietnamese workers on the construction site - who are indispensable in completing the project to preserve the My Son temple complex.

The project to preserve the E and F towers of My Son officially began in early March 2025, with a total project value of more than 4.8 million USD from non-refundable aid from the Government of India. The implementation period lasts until 2029.

The project to preserve and restore the World Cultural Heritage of My Son Temple Complex was signed by the Government of Vietnam and the Government of India on October 28, 2014. In the period 2017 - 2022, the Government of India funded more than 2.2 million USD to restore and reinforce the conservation of towers K, H, A.

Next, on December 21, 2020, the Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of India issued the Vietnam-India Joint Vision Statement on Peace , Prosperity and People. In the agreements and memorandums signed by the two Governments, the Government of India agreed to fund the Project to preserve and promote the value of the Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery relic site (Thang Binh district) and the My Son F tower group.

On August 1, 2024, within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's state visit to India, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was authorized by the Government to sign and exchange the Letter of Intent on the conservation and restoration of the F tower complex in My Son between the two Governments of Vietnam and India.

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 3505 dated August 19, 2024 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the implementation of the Letter of Intent on the conservation and restoration of My Son F Tower area, Quang Nam province has a document agreeing to implement.
