This year's festival takes place with many folk cultural activities, the most special of which is the procession of palanquins around the village on the main festival day. Huong Quat Temple preserves 10 ancient palanquins dating back nearly 200 years, which are rarely preserved anywhere else. The palanquins are elaborately carved, lacquered and gilded with dragons as the main motif, demonstrating the talent of the ancient craftsmen. According to legend, these palanquins were made by 18 families in the village and are worshiped in the temple's sanctuary, and are only brought out to be carried on the occasion of the festival.
The ancient palanquins, along with a large number of people and tourists attending the festival, create a long and bustling procession, imbued with a strong sense of community. The Huong Quat Temple Festival is meant to pray for favorable weather, good crops, and prosperity for the people.
