When mentioning Hung Yen , people immediately think of longan, a "royal" specialty. This is not simply a fruit but also a historical pride and the most famous agricultural brand of the province. The whole province currently has about 5,800 hectares of longan, of which 15-20% of the area is devoted to growing specialty varieties such as rock sugar longan, label Longan pulp. This fruit is famous for its sweet taste, thick pulp, small seeds, grown in famous areas such as Hong Chau, Tan Hung, Duc Hop, Khoai Chau... Especially, during the blooming season of longan flowers, local people also skillfully exploit the source of pure, fragrant longan honey.
From fresh longan, Hung Yen people have developed the profession of processing longan and deep-processed products such as longan with lotus seeds, beauty tea... These products are not only elegant gifts but also reach the international market. Mr. Tran Minh Duc, Director of Vinagri Vietnam Co., Ltd. said: Hung Yen longan is processed from longan grown on fertile alluvial soil, with a rich sweetness and characteristic aroma. Our crispy dried longan and lotus products are produced according to VietGAP standards, ensuring food safety and maintaining nutritional value, and have been stably exported to Asian markets.
Not only famous for its fruit trees, Hung Yen province is also one of the largest rice granaries in the North, with the famous Tam Thom rice brand, commonly known as Tam Xoan rice. This type of rice has long, slender grains, clear white, light aroma and delicious sticky rice. It has long affirmed its superior quality, favored by consumers not only domestically but also in many demanding markets such as the European Union (EU) and China.

Among the typical products, the TBR39 rice variety of ThaiBinh Seed Group is considered the pride of Hung Yen agriculture . Grown on fertile alluvial fields, TBR39 rice has many outstanding advantages such as good resistance to pests and diseases, slender, long, sticky and lightly fragrant grains. What is special is that the rice is still sticky and fragrant the next day without being hard. This is a rice line that combines traditional quality and modern seed technology, aiming to serve high-end markets at home and abroad."
Besides the main products such as longan and rice, Hung Yen province also has other indispensable specialties to create a colorful picture of agricultural products. A typical example is Khoai Chau pink banana. Grown in many communes: Chau Ninh, Chi Minh, Khoai Chau ... Thanks to the typical alluvial soil of the Red River, this banana variety grows exceptionally well, with large, beautiful, and delicious ripe fruit. With a protected collective trademark, Khoai Chau pink bananas are increasingly growing in export to high-end markets such as Korea, Japan, and China.
Although it is a processed product, Ban sauce is still the quintessence of Hung Yen culinary culture, a famous dipping sauce that has entered folk songs: "La melon, Lang eggplant, Bang spring rolls, Ban sauce". The vitality of Ban sauce comes not only from its rich, sweet and aromatic flavor, but also from the perseverance and preservation of the traditional craft of many generations of Ban villagers, My Hao ward.

Nowadays, amidst the modern pace of life, the craft of making soy sauce here is still maintained and developed, becoming the pride of the people of Hung Yen. Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu, Director of Trieu Son Soy Sauce Company Limited said: “Soy Sauce is not only a culinary product but also a crystallization of culture, the soul of Hung Yen homeland. We always strive to preserve the traditional recipe, while applying modern technology to ensure quality, food hygiene and safety and enhance product value”.
Hung Yen, a fertile alluvial land along the Red River, has long been the cradle of unique products, imbued with cultural essence and unique flavors. The simultaneous presence of 6 key products on the national agricultural map is not only an achievement in branding but also affirms the strong transformation of the province's agriculture.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized: "In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to focus on tightening strict quality management according to advanced standards, supporting businesses to promote the application of technology for deep processing, enhancing brand value and expanding export markets."
