Towards a green transformation based on national resources.
Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman extended his congratulations to Vietnam for the outstanding achievements it has made in its green transition and sustainable development over the past years. According to him, Vietnam has made significant progress in this process, from mitigating the impacts of climate change and responding to natural disasters to developing human resources to meet new demands.
"These efforts show that Vietnam is on the right track in its sustainable development strategy," the Bangladeshi diplomat commented.
Ambassador Rahman also highly appreciated Vietnam's potential in the field of green transition, particularly emphasizing its geographical and demographic advantages. "Vietnam has a favorable land area and a large population – this is a workforce that can be trained to adapt to the demands of green transition and participate in global efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change," he affirmed.
In addition, the Ambassador welcomed the strategic vision of Vietnamese leaders in the green transition process. He emphasized that Vietnam possesses a leadership team with a long-term mindset, understands the challenges ahead, and has established cooperative relationships with many pioneering countries in responding to climate change, while actively accessing appropriate technologies.
With these foundations, the Ambassador believes that, "Vietnam has all the necessary conditions to promote green transformation and can absolutely become a model in the effort for green transformation and sustainable development."
Human beings are at the center.
Sharing his thoughts on the theme of the P4G 2025 Summit, "Sustainable Green Transformation and a People-Centered Approach," Ambassador Rahman stated that both Vietnam and Bangladesh are implementing numerous human resource development programs to support clean energy production, green energy management, and energy transition.
“Both countries have established dedicated task forces, government agencies, and organizations to handle this task. Moreover, the workforce in both Vietnam and Bangladesh is being trained to make effective and practical contributions to the green transition,” he affirmed.
Referring to Bangladesh's experience in green transition, particularly in the garment industry – one of the South Asian nation's key export sectors – Ambassador Rahman stated that the government has implemented an industrial policy requiring businesses to adhere to clean energy and green transition criteria. This policy was developed through close consultation with international partners and organizations.
"In fact, many businesses in Bangladesh are now strictly adhering to clean energy and sustainable development standards, while also ensuring the preservation of a green and healthy living environment," the Ambassador pointed out.
Furthermore, he believes that a notable commonality between Vietnam and Bangladesh is that both place people at the center of all their development strategies.
"I regularly follow Vietnam and see that you are implementing green industrial policies decisively, paying particular attention to improving the quality of life and promoting the role and capacity of people in the process of sustainable development," the Ambassador emphasized.
Based on the remarks from Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman, it is clear that Vietnam is receiving positive recognition from the international community in its green transformation journey. Furthermore, the similarities in development strategies between Vietnam and Bangladesh are expected to open up more prospects for deeper cooperation between the two Asian nations in the future.
Vietnam is hosting the fourth Partnership for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) Summit from April 14-17. This is a multilateral cooperation mechanism initiated by Denmark in 2017, with the participation of eight other member countries: Vietnam, South Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and South Africa, and five partner organizations: the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the C40 network (C40 cities), the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The P4G has held three summits, organized by Denmark, South Korea, and Colombia, to promote public-private partnerships and create an alliance of political leaders to implement the Paris Agreement on climate change and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. |
