At the seminar, Dr. Cao Thanh Phuoc, former Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information and Library, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture, shared about the role of reading culture in modern life.

Accordingly, in the context of digital technology and audio-visual media increasingly dominating spiritual life, especially among young people. Therefore, reading culture needs to be repositioned as an important foundation for developing critical thinking, cultivating personality, and aiming at sustainable development of each individual and the whole society.

“Reading culture is a core part of national culture. Books not only help people accumulate knowledge but also nourish the soul, spark creativity and inspire. Especially in the school environment, if given proper attention, reading culture will become an important driving force to help students develop self-study capacity and independent thinking,” Dr. Phuoc emphasized.

Dr. Cao Thanh Phuoc also believes that the 4.0 industrial revolution brings many challenges but also opens up new opportunities to spread reading culture, if exploited in the right direction.

Reading culture is not simply the act of reading, but a process of forming thinking, cultivating knowledge and shaping personality. Developing reading habits requires synchronous coordination between family, school and society, especially during the personality formation stage of school-age children.
Concluding the discussion, Ms. Khuc Thi Thoi, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, highly appreciated the intellectual and enthusiastic contributions from the delegates.
The seminar contributed to raising public awareness of the role of reading culture in the digital age, while also opening up many practical suggestions to continue developing the reading movement at the grassroots level.
