Keep the game in the difficult area
Recently, the facilities of Ban Thach Primary and Secondary School in Giong Rieng Commune are still in a state of serious degradation such as: broken yard, flooding in the rainy season, and degraded classrooms. In that context, keeping students going to school is a difficult task. According to the Principal of Ban Thach Primary and Secondary School, Nguyen Thanh Hung, teachers have to go to each house to encourage students and parents; at the same time, connect with benefactors to support improving the school's facilities. Through the mobilization work, the school's appearance has clearly changed. In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the school's yard was paved, a water filter worth 50 million VND was installed; benefactors donated 26 bicycles and hundreds of raincoats, hats, notebooks, water filters, and free battery chargers.

Secretary of the Youth Union of Ban Thach Primary and Secondary School Vo Thi Be Lien said that in addition to encouraging students to come to school at the beginning of the school year, the school also organizes activities such as: Loving Arms, Mid-Autumn Festival, tree planting to celebrate the Party, emulation to celebrate Teachers' Day... contributing to turning the school into a second home that children love. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's dropout rate will decrease to 0.4% in primary school and 2.06% in secondary school; 100% of 5th and 9th graders will complete the program; nearly 150 students will be awarded at the end of the school year.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Giong Rieng Commune Dang Quoc Can shared that with more than 70% of students and 35% of teachers being Khmer, Ban Thach Primary and Secondary School has become a bright spot in the "Skillful Mass Mobilization" movement. The consensus among teachers, parents and students has helped the quality of education to have a clear change.

Many Khmer students with limited Vietnamese skills are patiently tutored by teachers. The school organizes free tutoring classes for students. Thanks to that, in the 2024-2025 school year, 99% of students completed the program, of which 23.8% completed with distinction and 20.3% completed well. Loc To Han, an excellent student for many years, shared: "Thanks to the vivid illustrated lessons and the dedication of the teachers, I was able to keep up with the program."
According to Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Danh Phuc, the province currently has nearly 10% of its population being ethnic minorities, of which the Khmer people account for about 8%. Investing in education in ethnic minority areas not only helps children access knowledge but also preserves their identity and strengthens national unity.
