Miss Thuy Tien absent, announced to withdraw lawsuit

This morning, May 31, the People's Court of Go Vap District (HCMC) opened a trial of the civil case between Ms. Dang Thuy Trang and Ms. Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (Miss Grand International 2021).

While the lawsuit between Dang Thuy Trang and Thuy Tien was being tried, the beauty queen suddenly withdrew her lawsuit 1

Miss Thuy Tien's side said they withdrew the lawsuit against Ms. Trang.

In this trial, Miss Thuy Tien was absent, her legal representative, lawyer Ngo Huynh Phuong Thao, attended.

Meanwhile, Ms. Dang Thuy Trang and lawyer Nguyen Quoc Phu (legal representative) were both present at the court to work.

At the trial, Judge Le Minh Loan - the presiding judge of the trial, said that up to now, the People's Court of Go Vap District has not yet made a decision to separate the case.

However, after the case was entered, the court has not yet initiated proceedings against Miss Thuy Tien's lawsuit against Ms. Trang. In order to resolve the case quickly and avoid prolonging it, Miss Thuy Tien's side said that they will withdraw the lawsuit.

Previously, at the trial on May 8, the court announced that it would merge the dispute over compensation for non-contractual damages between Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (plaintiff) and Dang Thuy Trang (defendant) with the dispute over a property loan contract between Ms. Dang Thuy Trang (plaintiff) and Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (defendant) for settlement.

However, after the Trial Council announced, Ms. Dang Thuy Trang's legal representative disagreed because he thought the two cases were of different nature.

Miss Thuy Tien's lawyer said the two cases should be handled independently.

Giao thong newspaper continues to update on the trial.

Panorama of noisy accusations and lawsuits

On November 3, 2022, Go Vap District People's Court accepted (No. 402/2022/TLST-DS) the contract dispute case in which Ms. Dang Thuy Trang sued Miss Thuy Tien for compensation of nearly 2.4 billion VND (including 1.5 billion VND in debt and 932 million VND in compensation). At the same time, Ms. Thuy Trang asked Thuy Tien to publicly apologize to her in the press.

Thuy Tien said she was tricked by Ms. Trang and forced to sign a fake loan contract at a press conference on November 5, 2022.

According to the lawsuit, Ms. Trang claimed that in June 2017, Miss Thuy Tien borrowed 1.5 billion VND from Ms. Trang to participate in the Miss Southern Vietnam 2017 contest for a period of one year. However, when the repayment period expired, Thuy Tien did not pay the above amount. The beauty queen even tore up the debt note.

A day later, on November 4, 2022, Go Vap District People's Court accepted the case of dispute over compensation for non-contractual damages, ending the act of violating the honor, dignity and reputation of an individual between Miss Thuy Tien and Ms. Dang Thuy Trang (acceptance number 419/2022/TLST-DS).

According to the lawsuit, Thuy Tien claimed that Ms. Thuy Trang intentionally used her personal image, attaching a photo of her standing next to Le Hoang Long - who was prosecuted by the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security for the crime of Prostitution Brokerage (posted on Facebook). That caused the public to misunderstand that she was involved in the incident.

Immediately after that, on November 5, 2022, Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien held a press conference. Here, the beauty queen admitted that she had signed a debt note of 1.5 billion VND (which she had torn up earlier), but did not receive any money from this woman.

According to Thuy Tien, Ms. Thuy Trang thought she had potential and needed investment money, so she approached her and promised to support her to win the prize. From there, it led to the signing of the debt paper.

However, at this press conference, Miss Thuy Tien did not mention the information that she had sent a petition to the Ho Chi Minh City Police, accusing Ms. Thuy Trang of "extortion of property", "with her accomplices tricking others into signing fake debt papers and then threatening to collect debts", but the prosecution agency (Police, City People's Procuracy) concluded that there was not enough basis to determine the crime, so they did not initiate a criminal case against this accusation.
