The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued an official dispatch on exemption from high school graduation exams and priority for direct admission to universities and colleges in 2025.
The Ministry of Education and Training said that the exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in international and regional Olympics in 2025 has 133 students studying in grade 12 in the 2024-2025 school year participating.
The Ministry of Education and Training requests that the Departments of Education and Training exempt these candidates from the 2024-2025 high school graduation exam according to the regulations of the high school graduation exam.
Along with that, universities, academies, colleges and junior colleges will give priority to direct admission to universities and colleges in 2025 according to the regulations of the admission regulations for these 133 candidates.
The list of students exempted from the high school graduation exam and given priority for direct admission to universities and colleges in 2025 is as follows:
In 2025, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,165,289; an increase of 93,894 registrations compared to last year (in 2024, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,071,395).
Of which, 12th grade candidates studying the 2018 GeneralEducation Program are 1,122,507 (accounting for 96.33%); independent candidates are 42,782 (accounting for 3.67%).
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27.
From 2025, candidates studying the 2018 General Education Program taking the high school graduation exam will only take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects (among the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology).
Literature will be an essay test, with a duration of 120 minutes. The test consists of two parts: Reading Comprehension (4 points) and Writing (6 points).
The remaining subjects will be multiple choice, with Math taking 90 minutes and the remaining subjects taking 50 minutes.
