French peaches in Bac Ha are now in harvest season. This year the peach crop is not good so the price is higher than usual.
These days, the French peach trees in Bac Ha (Lao Cai) have begun to ripen. This year, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the peach crop is not in good shape, but the price is high and stable thanks to the quality, the brand is increasingly enhanced and attracts tourists to experience and buy as gifts.
French peaches in Bac Ha are ripe in April every year. In Bac Ha, besides the Vegetable Farm, the famous pear, plum and peach growing area with a large area, beautiful mountain scenery, loved by tourists is Na Kheo village (Ta Chai commune) and the household of Ms. Vi Thi Thieng (Nung ethnic group) - owner of Vuong Huynh homestay is also the household that grows the most plums and peaches.

Ms. Thieng's family not only has a plum and peach garden in the center of the famous Na Kheo plum field, but also a plum and peach hill on the border of Ta Chai and Ban Pho communes, located entirely on a small hill with beautiful scenery and terrain, surrounded by deep green sa moc forests and immense tam hoa plum forests. These days the weather is hot and sunny, the peaches ripen quickly, so Ms. Thieng's family takes advantage of the opportunity to harvest and bring them to the market to sell, the average price of peaches is 25,000 VND/kg.
Besides harvesting peaches, Ms. Thieng's family also hired more people to weed and clean the peach and plum fields to prepare for tourists to experience during the upcoming April 30 - May 1 holiday.
Bac Ha Vegetable Farm is the most attractive destination for tourists. The farm is located on the border of Bac Ha town and Na Kim village (Ta Chai commune), right next to Uncle Ho's fish pond, about 300m from Hoang A Tuong ancient residence. The farm has a beautiful location and terrain, located entirely in a small basin at the foot of the majestic Co Tien mountain.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, technical officer in charge of the Bac Ha District Vegetable and Fruit Farm, said that peaches at the Farm have begun to ripen. These are purebred peach trees crossed with French peaches (DT2 peach variety), which are commonly called hairy peaches by locals and tourists. Here, peach trees are grown using high technology and organic production, producing clean, delicious, high-quality peaches.
The peach trees here have been cared for and adjusted to ripen at two different times: mid-April every year and during the April 30 - May 1 holiday to serve tourists. This year, the farm is still open for visitors to experience. Every year on this occasion, the farm attracts a large number of tourists to visit, experience and buy peaches.
Currently in the peach harvest season, peach consumption is quite slow on normal days and only sells well on weekends when there are many tourists, especially on Sundays and market days. Ms. Bui Thi Thung, a fruit retailer with more than 30 years of experience in retailing fruits at Bac Ha market, said that this year due to the hot and dry weather, the peach crop was poor, the fruit was small, and the amount of selected and unripe fruit was low. In addition to strong peach consumption on weekends, on normal days, traders in the center of Bac Ha district also shipped peaches to Hanoi, Phu Tho, Yen Bai , Lao Cai, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, etc. This year, due to the poor harvest and shortage of goods, the price was higher than last year.
Mr. Giang Seo Sau in Ban Pho 2 village (Ban Pho commune, Bac Ha) grows 15 French peach trees that are more than ten years old. He said that this year, due to the prolonged drought, the peaches grown on the hill did not have a good harvest and the fruit was small. His family has sold more than 30kg at a fairly high price. "Growing peaches not only brings in a good income but also creates a beautiful scene that attracts tourists. My family specializes in making Ban Pho specialty corn wine. Visitors from everywhere come to buy it. In the spring, tourists like to come to the garden because of the peach blossoms. During the harvest season, tourists also come in large numbers to visit and buy peaches on the spot. If tourists do not buy peaches, they take pictures, experience, buy wine...", Mr. Sau said.
