Author and director Tran Van Hung guides students participating in the training course "Stage Writers 2023"
Director - author Tran Van Hung, Head of the Creative Association, said that the literary and artistic life in general and the theater in particular in early 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City was quite vibrant with many new plays. A series of competitions, festivals, and theater weeks were held, and theaters were regularly lit up with a rich repertoire.
However, behind that excitement is still the scarcity of stage scripts, especially good scripts. Many authors and directors who are passionate about their profession have wanted to contribute to overcoming this.
Director Ton That Can - Permanent Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association on the opening day of the training course "Stage Writers in 2023"
Concerned about the current situation of theater lacking good scripts, People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association said that good scripts depend on the author's talent and from materials drawn from life, they will have their own perspective and writing techniques.
The Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association has made many improvements in organizing creative camps, contributing to enhancing ideological values and moving towards scripts that are deeply humane and topical.
According to Meritorious Artist and Director Ca Le Hong, there are currently many scripts that lack depth, character traits lack logic, and messages sent in the script are rambling and unclear. One of the reasons for this limitation is that young writers have not yet made much of an effort, so they are not really close to life. To have good scripts that accurately reflect issues that the audience cares about, writers must be willing to be proactive and get involved in real life.

Experts have also mentioned that more writers should be invited to participate in writing camps, and historians should come to exchange and give talks on topics so that young writers can gain more knowledge about writing scripts.
Many opinions say that the national drama stage has passed its peak because a generation of famous writers and playwrights such as playwright Luu Quang Vu, writer Xuan Trinh, Anh Bien, Xuan Duc, and Trieu Huan have all passed away.
Some authors are prestigious but old. If we do not invite them to teach, the current team of stage creators will lose the inheritance factor to create a name.
They need to be taught methods, skills and techniques of screenwriting suitable to the needs of theaters - especially socialized theater units today.
"The training course will produce more young authors. Young people will join the Young Authors Club, under the guidance and support of prestigious authors. Thereby, in the future, there will soon be more good scripts" - Meritorious Artist and Director Ca Le Hong hopes
