From the capital of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period, Krong No District, Dak Nong Province has organized vocational training to help many poor ethnic minority people improve their income and escape poverty sustainably.
Two years ago, Mr. Ninh Van Ninh (Nam N'Dir commune, Krong No district, Dak Nong province) participated in a vocational training course on agricultural machinery repair. Now he has become a mechanic repairing all kinds of machinery serving agricultural production. Mr. Ninh said: “My class has 30 students, most of whom are Dao ethnic people. From the class, students have more knowledge to serve production, improving crop productivity. Many students have additional skills in repairing agricultural machinery, serving the needs of people in and outside Nam N'Dir commune. Vocational training for rural workers is really effective when students know how to apply the knowledge they have learned in practice. The demand for vocational training among rural workers is very high. In addition to learning agricultural machinery repair and cooking, ethnic minorities in Krong No district want to learn more knowledge about farming and animal husbandry.”
In early 2024, Mr. Hoang Van May, Nam Da commune, Krong No district, Dak Nong province, participated in a training course on cultivation and plant protection techniques opened locally. Learning more knowledge and techniques from the training class, Mr. May applied the knowledge he learned to renovate his family's coffee garden. Applying science, technology, and proper plant care, Mr. May's family's coffee yield in the 2024-2025 crop year improved. With the knowledge he learned, Mr. May zoned off areas to combine cultivation with livestock development.
Talking to us, Mr. May said: “Up to now, people in Nam Da commune have been farming in the traditional way, using experience and sharing with each other. After attending the vocational training class, I have gained a lot of new knowledge and techniques. Applying the knowledge I have learned in practice, my family's coffee garden has developed well, bringing efficiency in both output and product quality.”
From the allocated budget for vocational education development and job creation for ethnic minority and mountainous workers, Krong No district has effectively implemented vocational training, helping many poor ethnic minority people increase their income and escape poverty sustainably. According to the report of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Krong No district, in 2024, the district assigned the unit to coordinate with departments, offices and localities to review and survey vocational training needs and conduct recruitment and vocational training for rural workers. As a result, the unit opened 10 vocational training classes for more than 320 students, reaching 105% of the plan assigned by Dak Nong province. The form of vocational training for rural workers is mainly concentrated training, according to the occupational groups that workers choose with 2 training systems including primary and vocational training under 3 months. Many workers, after learning a trade and improving their skills, have boldly invested in expanding production and business scale to increase income from the profession they have been trained in.
Comrade Ngan Thanh Hai, Head of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Department of Krong No District, said: Vocational training for rural workers in recent times has achieved positive results, contributing to improving the quality and qualifications of workers. With majors suitable to the actual needs and demands of the labor market, many vocational training classes have attracted a large number of students to participate.
To improve the quality and effectiveness of vocational training, associated with creating local jobs, promoting labor structure transformation, the district has stepped up propaganda, raised people's awareness of vocational training, diversified livelihoods, and enhanced career counseling activities. At the same time, mobilized rural workers to actively learn vocational skills, improve income and develop strong products.
At the end of 2024, a working delegation from Dak Nong province had a working session to inspect vocational training for rural workers in Krong No district. Here, Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh requested the People's Committee of Krong No district and related units to continue to promote propaganda and raise people's awareness of vocational education. Units and localities proactively cooperate with businesses and labor employers to ensure that students have jobs after training. |
