The 2024-2025 provincial school sports tournament is considered the most impressive and successful for the basketball team of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted. This is the second consecutive time that the school's basketball team has won the championship in a provincial sports tournament with 33 high schools across the province participating.

Convincing victory

The Provincial TTHD Tournament is a playground for students throughout the province. This tournament is considered to have high professional quality with the participation of many excellent athletes from 33 high schools in the province. In this year's tournament, the basketball team of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted did not have many changes in personnel. Under the leadership of Mr. Vo Kim Nguyen, a teacher of PhysicalEducation - National Defense and Security Education and Head of the school's Basketball Club, successfully defended the championship title.

Nguyen Duc Duy, class 12 Ly, team captain said: “This is the second consecutive year I have joined the school basketball team and won the championship. Compared to last year, I see that the teams participating in this year's tournament have very high professional quality. Coming to the tournament, the teams have prepared carefully for each match and have outstanding individuals to lead the team. Therefore, the teams compete very well and fiercely, contributing to improving the quality of the tournament."

In recent years, the school has not only established academic clubs but also established sports clubs, such as basketball, aerobics, etc. The purpose is to create conditions for students to access fun learning activities, practice communication skills, scientific research and develop personal talents. The clubs create a healthy playground for students, making them feel "every day at school is a happy day". Through maintaining club activities, the school discovers and nurtures talented individuals, helping them realize their own value, cultivate themselves to develop comprehensively.

According to Duc Duy, before entering the tournament, the team members were trained by coach Vo Kim Nguyen for many months. Every early morning and late afternoon, the whole team went to the field to practice physical strength and technical exercises, competition tactics, etc. Thanks to continuous training for a long time, the team members were very compatible, so they competed really explosively, surpassing many strong teams in the group stage to be present in the final match and win the gold medal.

In order to win the Provincial TTHD Championship for two consecutive years, the basketball team of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted has been given many favorable conditions by the school leaders to practice, as well as participate in friendly competitions inside and outside the province to gain experience. Tran Khanh Duy, grade 12 Math 1, a member of the basketball team shared: “In the 2022-2023 school year, after the school's basketball team won the Provincial TTHD Championship gold medal, the team members not only maintained daily practice but also received the school's support to participate in tournaments such as: National 5x5 U18 Basketball Tournament held in Hue and many basketball tournaments in Dong Hoa Town, Tuy Hoa City to gain experience. Thanks to maintaining practice and competition experience, the whole team is very confident to enter the Provincial TTHD Championship for the 2024-2025 school year and win the gold medal".

Strong development of basketball movement

In order to develop the basketball training movement in schools, create a spread, attract a large number of students to participate in training, contribute to improving physical strength and developing stature, in the 2023-2024 school year, Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted established a basketball club and invested in a training ground. Basketball has truly become a favorite sport of many students in the school.

Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted not only invests in building a training ground but also trains a team of teachers with in-depth expertise in this sport. Every year, the school organizes an intra-school basketball tournament, attracting students from all grades to participate. Teacher Vo Kim Nguyen shared: “Since its establishment, the school's basketball club has attracted many students to practice and play basketball every day. Through that, many students have developed their strengths and talents and have been selected for the team to practice and improve, creating a source of athletes to prepare for tournaments. Thanks to the development of the basketball movement and long-term training, the school's basketball team participated in the Provincial TTHD Tournament and competed well, winning a gold medal."
