A new step forward is that the two sides have completed negotiations on the Letter of Intent on educational cooperation, expected to be signed during the official visit to Vietnam by the President of the European Commission this October.
In the field of higher education, with the support of the EU in recent years, since 2015, Vietnamese higher education institutions have participated in the EU program to support education, training, youth and sports in Europe (ERASMUS+ program) and achieved many remarkable results.

Expressing his gratitude for the EU's support for Vietnam's education, Deputy Minister Le Quan expressed his wish to continue expanding cooperation areas such as: Signing a letter of intent on educational cooperation, promoting cooperation within the ASEMME framework, expanding the Erasmus+ education support program to high-tech fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips and green energy.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Mario Ronconi highly appreciated the cooperation achievements that Vietnam and the EU have achieved. He affirmed that the EU fully supports the cooperation orientations that Vietnam proposed for the coming period, especially in the context that the two sides are actively preparing to sign the Letter of Intent on educational cooperation.
According to Mr. Mario Ronconi, areas related to innovation, digital transformation, sustainable development and international integration will continue to be cooperation priorities, in line with the education development strategies of both sides. The EU hopes that cooperation initiatives will soon become reality, bringing practical benefits to the education system and Vietnam - EU relations.
Vietnam also proposed that both sides recognize each other’s credits and degrees, and build a Vietnam-EU educational cooperation network. Another important content is to encourage leading European universities to open branches in Vietnam, creating conditions for domestic students to directly access international training standards.
