On May 8, Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, said that the Ministry of Construction has sent a document to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha regarding the investment plan for the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum Expressway Construction Project.
According to the proposal, this expressway has a research length of about 144km, the starting point connects with the North-South expressway in the East (via Quang Ngai), the end point connects with the North-South expressway in the West (via Kon Tum ). The route is designed according to the standard of 4 expressway lanes, the design speed is from 80 to 100 km/h. The total preliminary investment is about 44,355 billion VND.
The project is expected to be implemented in the period 2026 - 2030. According to the financial plan, the central budget will allocate capital for construction and related costs, while the localities where the road passes through are responsible for allocating capital for site clearance.

In the document sent to the Government, the Ministry of Construction also proposed that in case the Prime Minister assigns the locality to be the governing body, the Ministry will hand over all preliminary research results for the provinces to continue implementing.
The Quang Ngai – Kon Tum Expressway is expected to create the shortest, high-speed connection route between Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces; at the same time, it will act as a trade bridge between the Central Highlands region and the Central coastal economic zones and border gates with Laos and Cambodia.
The project is considered an important infrastructure breakthrough, contributing to promoting inter-regional socio-economic development and reducing the load on existing national highways.
