Proposal for geological survey drilling for the railway project connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio

Vingroup Corporation has just sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Department of Construction and related localities, requesting permission to conduct geological survey drilling to serve the design of the urban railway project connecting the city center with Can Gio district.

According to the document, Vingroup is preparing to conduct geological surveys at a number of locations on urban roads and in the Sac Forest area of Can Gio district.

The implementing unit is the Center for Technical Geological Research of the University of Mining and Geology, which will conduct the survey drilling within 60 days.

During the implementation process, Vingroup commits to strictly comply with regulations on security and order, ensure environmental safety and will restore the original state of the sidewalks and roads in the construction area after completing the survey.

In order to ensure the progress of the project, Vingroup proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee consider approving the enterprise and survey unit to conduct geological drilling at the locations where the railway is expected to pass.

Previously, in early May 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved Vingroup Corporation to research and prepare a proposal for the railway project connecting the city center with Can Gio district under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.

Vingroup Corporation must complete the project proposal dossier and submit it to the competent authority within 1 year from April 28, 2025.

In case the project proposal is not approved by the competent authority or is not completed within 1 year, the document will be invalid. Vingroup Corporation shall bear all risks and expenses incurred.

The urban railway project connecting the city center to Can Gio was proposed by Vingroup with a length of 48.5 km.

Regarding the implementation progress, the investor proposed to prepare for investment from 2025. Construction will be carried out from 2026 to 2028. It is expected that the project will be tested and handed over in 2028.
