On October 19, Quang Binh province held a ceremony to hand over the decision on the tourist site of the Holy Mother Lieu Hanh Temple in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district. This is a newly restored spiritual tourist site in Quang Binh province to serve local people and tourists who come to worship when they have the opportunity to travel on the north-south highway through Ngang Pass with many legends.
According to documents left behind, this temple was built in 1557 (Later Le Dynasty), worshiping Holy Mother Lieu Hanh, one of the "Four Immortals" of Vietnamese folk beliefs. The temple is also known by other names such as Princess Lieu Hanh Temple or Mother Lieu Hanh Temple located at the foot of Ngang Pass. This temple has a long history and cultural value, associated with many mysterious and thrilling stories about Princess Lieu Hanh, an important figure in the history of the development of Vietnamese folk beliefs. In 2000, Holy Mother Lieu Hanh Temple was recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic. According to legend, Princess Lieu Hanh was the second daughter of the Jade Emperor named Quynh Hoa, the mother who ruled over the sky, the holy mother who headed the system of Tam Phu, Tu Phu worshiping the Mother Goddess of the Vietnamese people. Holy Mother Lieu Hanh Temple is located at the foot of Ngang Pass, on a flat land. Behind the temple is the majestic Hoanh Son range - a famous place that has entered the poetry and thoughts of the Vietnamese people. The temple faces the East Sea and the arrangement of the levels from the Front Temple and the Back Temple creates a majestic and solemn look. The Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple is not only sacred and ancient but also a place with beautiful landscapes, attracting many people to visit and offer incense, especially at the beginning of the new year.

Along with Lieu Hanh Temple, this area also has the Hoanh Son Quan relic - a citadel architectural work located on the top of Ngang Pass, which plays an important role in Vietnamese history. Hoanh Son Quan was built during the reign of King Minh Mang, has a strategic position on the north-south highway and is still quite well preserved. Notably, recently, in the process of preserving and restoring the Lieu Hanh Temple relic site, the local government discovered a system of ancient stone steps connecting the temple to Hoanh Son Quan, with more than 1,000 intact steps. According to historical documents, this is a vestige of the north-south highway of ancient Vietnam. With its historical, cultural and tourism significance, at the end of April 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province issued a decision to recognize the Lieu Hanh Temple tourist site.
