On January 18, Bac Tra My district announced African swine fever in Tra Tan and Tra Bui communes to deploy measures to control and suppress the epidemic, avoiding widespread spread.

In village 1 (Tra Tan commune) and village 3 (Tra Bui commune), pigs from some households showed signs of not eating, red eyes, diarrhea, exhaustion and then death. Test results from the authorities showed that many samples were positive for the virus that causes African swine fever.
According to Mr. Thai Trong Thach - Chairman of Tra Tan Commune People's Committee, initially, the locality recorded 52 pigs from 14 households infected with the disease and died. In Tra Bui Commune, the epidemic area of Hamlet 3, 39 pigs from 13 households died. Local veterinary forces focused on spraying disinfectants, disinfecting the epidemic area, and compulsorily destroying the infected pigs.
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Van Binh, Chairman of Tra Giang Commune People's Committee, said that after a period of controlling and suppressing the epidemic with many resolute measures, on January 16, this locality announced the end of the African swine fever epidemic that appeared at the end of 2023.
