The number of candidates taking the B00 exam is only 1/7 of last year.

According to statistics from the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, only 1 candidate scored 30 points in block B00. That is Tran Duc Tai, a student at Nguyen Khuyen Secondary and High School, Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, there is a candidate from Bac Ninh with 29.75 points; 6 candidates scored 29.5 points; 5 candidates scored 29.25 points. Nationwide, there are 314 candidates who scored 28 points or more in block B00. The score of 24 points or more is 6,209 candidates, this number is only 1/10 compared to last year.

Compared to 2024, the number of candidates taking the B00 exam this year has decreased sharply. If in 2024 there were 342,301 candidates taking the B00 exam, this year there are 46,607, only 1/7 of last year. The average score for the B00 exam this year is only 18.34, a decrease of 2.19 points compared to last year.

B00 is the traditional admission group of medical and pharmaceutical training schools today. Master Pham Thai Son, Director of Admissions at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, acknowledged that the number of candidates taking the B00 exam this year is much lower than last year.

According to Mr. Son, although the number of candidates for group B00 this year is small, medical schools will not have a recruitment crisis, because the quota for the medical major is quite small. Meanwhile, other universities consider many combinations. But Mr. Son predicts that the standard score for medical schools this year will decrease sharply by about 2-3 points, that is, only about 24-25 points.

Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board of FPT University, also said that this year, the B00 group only has more than 46,000 candidates, so the admission score will likely decrease and be around 16-18, depending on the school. For medical schools other than the B00 group, many schools have recruited other groups and methods, so it is difficult to predict the admission score.

Meanwhile, Master Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department of the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) analyzed that for block B00, with the average scores of Math, Chemistry and Biology all decreasing, the benchmark scores for medicine, pharmacy and natural sciences will also decrease by about 1.5-2.5 points.

How much did the benchmarks for other blocks decrease?

Master Cu Xuan Tien said that the score distribution of high school graduation exams in 2025 is more clearly differentiated than in previous years. This has created favorable conditions for universities and colleges in selecting candidates for admission based on high school graduation exam scores.

In general, all subjects have a significant decrease in average scores compared to 2024. Only Physics increased slightly and the number of candidates scoring 10 points increased dramatically from 55 to 3,929 candidates. Surprisingly, the average score for Mathematics has decreased sharply, the score distribution is skewed to the left, with 56.4% of candidates below average, and only about 12% of candidates scoring 7 points or higher. This is a record low, reflecting the difficult and highly differentiated exam questions, serving the purpose of classifying real abilities.

On the contrary, English is considered a difficult subject, but the score distribution results are quite surprising with an average score of 5.38, the percentage of candidates below the average score (<5) decreased by about 4.5% compared to 2024, the score distribution graph is very beautiful bell shape, showing clear differentiation. This is because this year English is an elective subject, leading to a decrease in the number of students registering. At the same time, most of the students who choose this subject have determined that this is a subject they are good at and have a competitive advantage when applying to universities and colleges.

From this reality, Mr. Tien believes that this year's benchmark scores will tend to decrease significantly compared to last year. Majors with admission combinations related to Math, English, and Chemistry will have their benchmark scores decrease more than the remaining combinations.

Specifically, the A00 and A01 groups have seen a sharp decrease in Math scores, so the benchmark scores for engineering and technology majors are likely to decrease by 1 to 2 points.

In block C00, the subjects Literature, History, and Geography remain stable, so the benchmark score for block C will fluctuate little, possibly decreasing slightly or remaining the same.

For blocks D01 and D07, Math and English scores did not increase, so the expected benchmark score will also decrease by 1 to 2 points.
