Despite the difficulty of moving, throughout the early morning, a "sea of people" in neat clothes, holding flags and flowers, with radiant faces, still flocked to the city center with a burning desire: to witness the beautiful and proud images of the country.

According to the reporter of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, starting from 3 am, streams of people were pouring into the central area. Without anyone telling them, from the old man with white hair to the child holding the national flag in his hand, everyone was eager to find a good place to stand to witness the rehearsal of the historic parade - an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

Ms. Cao My Hong (born in 1964, living in District 7) made an appointment with her friends to go to Nguyen Hue Street (District 1) early. The group of 11 friends made an appointment to wear red shirts with yellow stars, and stick the Vietnamese flag on their cheeks and arms. The group sang loudly the song "As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day", along with many heroic revolutionary songs...

"Today is Sunday so I decided to go to Ho Chi Minh City to watch it live. A few days ago I could only watch it on my phone. Yesterday, I visited Bach Dang Wharf and some alleys of flags in the city. I loved it!", Thuong Hai shared.

People eagerly waited for the parade to pass by.

Weaving through the eager crowd, gentle cries rang out: "Cool spring water here!", "Hand fan for 5 thousand!", "Red flag with yellow star, here, uncles and aunts!"...

Mr. Hoang Huu Phuc (born in 1987, from Dong Nai ) rode a motorbike decorated with national flags and paper fans, slowly moving between groups of people. On his sunburnt face, a smile was always present, Mr. Phuc expressed: "Usually, I sell on the street, today I also tried to come early. I can sell a little money to take care of my family, and I can immerse myself in this sacred atmosphere, it's so much fun!".

The red-flag-starred shirts fit snugly around their small bodies, their chubby cheeks still showing the marks of pillows from falling asleep on their mothers’ shoulders. Little boys and girls were held tightly in their fathers’ arms, holding small flags, chattering to their mothers: “When will the plane fly by, Mom?”

On the sidewalks and lawns along the parade route, people sat in small groups. Everyone brought some simple food: a loaf of bread, a lunch box, a bottle of mineral water. Some people spread out their shirts and sat down, eating breakfast and chatting animatedly in the bustling atmosphere.

As the parade passed by, people clapped their hands, waved flags, and sang national anthems. Many people were moved by the image of great national unity. The army marched in the love and embrace of the people...

After 21 rounds of artillery fire, thousands of people still lingered at Ben Bach Dang Park to watch helicopters fly over the city. In the sky, helicopters flew in 3-4-3 formations while Yak-130 and Su-30MKII fighters performed complex aerobatics. Especially, the two heat-release phases of the Su-30MKII fighter lit up the sky. People raised their heads high, holding small flags high, their eyes filled with pride...

The parade groups dispersed one by one, each group of soldiers straightened their ranks and quickly moved to the vehicle assembly area. Along both sides of the road, more and more people lingered. Many people took the opportunity to approach the soldiers to take souvenir photos.

Bright smiles bloomed on sweaty faces, along with friendly handshakes, compliments, inquiries... Children happily ran around, looking at the neat military uniforms, the long lines of specialized vehicles waiting.

After the rehearsal, the atmosphere was still not over but still filled with sweet moments. On the streets, traffic police and riot police maintained security and order, smiling and taking souvenir photos with people.

Many children wearing red shirts with yellow stars, still holding small flags, chattered and ran to take pictures with the "police officer".
