Traveling along the coastal road through Ninh Tho commune to Ninh Diem, Ninh Hai, Ninh Thuy wards of Ninh Hoa town, visitors can easily see salt warehouses piled high by salt farmers, covered with tarps and dried in the fields.
The salt making season starts from January to July every year. To harvest large, flavorful, firm white salt grains, the best time is from April to June, because the weather has many hot sunny days, the salt dries quickly and drains water.
When the sun rises, shining down on the salt fields, it will highlight each small shimmering salt grain, like natural pearls of the sea.
