According to the General Department of Irrigation, as of 4:00 p.m. on February 6, 2023, the area with water for winter-spring crop cultivation in the Northern Midlands and Delta region reached 446,886 ha/498,359 ha, reaching 89.7% (up 2.3% compared to February 5), including: Thai Binh 100%, Nam Dinh 100%, Ha Nam 100%, Ninh Binh 97%, Phu Tho 97%, Hai Duong 92%, Hai Phong 88%, Bac Ninh 86%, Vinh Phuc 84%, Hung Yen 79%, Hanoi 66%.
According to the General Department of Irrigation, from 7:00 p.m. on February 5, 2023 to 7:00 a.m. on February 6, the northern mountainous region will have widespread rain from 20 - 30 mm (Bac Can, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen from 35 - 50 mm); the midlands and the Northern Delta region will have widespread rain from 10 - 20 mm (Tam Dao - Vinh Phuc 55 mm, Phu Ho - Phu Tho 35 mm, Son Dong - Bac Giang 30 mm). As of 4:00 p.m. on February 6, 2023, the average water level of the Red River on February 6 at the Hanoi Hydrological Station reached 1.75 m, the highest at 11:00 a.m. was 2.04 m.
With the water level on February 6, the irrigation works have been repaired, upgraded, and the water intake elevation lowered, and the field stations continue to be qualified for operation. Localities are organizing the maximum operation of irrigation works to take water. In particular, fixed works that have not been invested in, repaired, or upgraded, such as Trung Ha and Phu Sa pumping stations (Hanoi City); Cam Dinh and Lien Mac sluices (Hanoi City), and Long Tuu ( Bac Ninh Province), are not qualified for water intake operation.
To continue to facilitate water collection, the General Department of Irrigation requests the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of provinces and cities to direct management and exploitation units to strengthen solutions and operate water collection vehicles to the maximum to speed up the progress of water collection for cultivated areas that depend on additional regulated water sources from hydroelectric reservoirs; strive to complete the water collection plan in the second phase, and at the same time store water in the canal system, low-lying areas, ponds and lakes.
