Actor Hong Duc "Criminal Police" passed away after a serious illness

On the afternoon of April 26, the family announced that Meritorious Artist Hong Duc passed away at 10:15 p.m. on April 22 in Ho Chi Minh City, at the age of 84. Despite the dedicated treatment of doctors, he passed away after a period of serious illness at an old age.

The family of the eldest daughter and youngest son are returning from Canada to Ho Chi Minh City to arrange the funeral for artist Hong Duc. His coffin is being kept at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (District 3). The burial ceremony took place on the morning of May 3, after which the male artist's coffin was taken to Phuc An Vien Cemetery (Thu Duc City).

Artist Hong Duc's real name is Nguyen Van Duc, born in 1940 in My Duc district, Hanoi . He worked as an architect in Hai Phong city. From 1963 to 1969, Hong Duc became a film actor at Vietnam Feature Film Studio (now Vietnam Feature Film Studio One Member Co., Ltd.).

In 1964, artist Hong Duc made his mark with the role of hero Cu Chinh Lan in the film Nguoi chien si tre. Thanks to this role, he received the Golden Lotus Award at the first Vietnam Film Festival - 1970 and the Certificate of Merit from the Soviet Cinema Association at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1965. After that, the male artist participated in many films such as: La co chuyen, Mot chuyen xe, Binh minh xoong, Khuc ca binh minh...

From 1969 to 1993, Hong Duc was a veteran artist of the Central Drama Theater (now the Vietnam Drama Theater). He appeared in many plays such as: My Company Commander, Tiger's Claw, The Song of Life, Going Against the Current of Life...

After retiring in 1993, because of his love for art, artist Hong Duc continued to participate in a series of television series. Among them, the role of the boss Tien "chi" (a character based on the real-life image of Nam Cam) in the television series Criminal Police: White Collar (2002) left a strong impression on the audience.

Remembering this role, Meritorious Artist Hong Duc once shared: "After the film was broadcast, everyone I met on the street, in coffee shops, and on the sidewalk tea shops recognized me. Although I always said I played the role of Tien "only", all the audience called me Nam Cam".

He also acted in films such as: Running from the Case, Street Stories, Bride Blog ... Artist Hong Duc's most recent role was in the film Human Skin Mask, which aired in 2012.

In his last years, actor Hong Duc and his wife moved to Ho Chi Minh City to live with their second daughter's family.
