When they were still two administrative units, inter-regional tourism activities between Da Nang city and Quang Nam province were quite vibrant. In particular, the Da Nang - Hoi An tour was almost the default itinerary for all tourists.
According to tourism experts, when they are no longer two independent tourism centers, a strategy to coordinate visitors is needed to maximize the value and brand of these two major destinations. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to the fact that Hoi An is a favorite destination for Western tourist markets while Da Nang is more focused on Asian and domestic tourists.
After the merger, the new Da Nang city now has 57 tourist areas and destinations, which are important elements to promote the development of the local tourism industry. The shared management is expected to help the tourist areas and destinations have closer connections, contributing to keeping tourists in Da Nang longer.
The Da Nang - Cu Lao Cham waterway route is a tourism route with great potential, which has been identified for a long time but has not been exploited yet. Becoming an intra-regional tourism route is expected to help this tourism route come into operation soon.

In the western mountainous region, the tourist route along Route 14G is also expected to change. In early 2025, Quang Nam province (old) announced the Hoi An - My Son - Dong Giang Heaven Gate tourist corridor.
Now, the tourism corridor from the center of Da Nang through the western destinations has also become a promising intra-regional tourism route. Destinations such as Bho Hoong Community Tourism Village (Song Kon Commune), Dh'Roong Community Tourism Village (Dong Giang Commune) or Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-tourism Area (Ben Hien Commune) will have more opportunities to develop when connecting seamlessly with destinations in the old city of Da Nang.
The merger into a new administrative unit also helps Da Nang own and develop more strongly many special regional tours associated with green tourism and sustainable tourism. These include: Waterway tourism associated with Co Co River; educational tourism (Ta Lang, Gian Bi - Bay Mau coconut forest - Cu Lao Cham); langur viewing tourism (Son Tra - Tam My Tay), Cham cultural discovery tourism (Cham Sculpture Museum - My Son Temple Complex) ...
Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Tourism, said: “It is necessary to shape a number of seamless tourism “arcs” connecting Da Nang - Hoi An with destinations in the western mountainous region. This will both open up new experiences for tourists and contribute to extending the length of stay (from 3-5 days) of tourists in the locality to enhance the value of the tourism industry.”
