“World of Frozen” is Disney's first theme park dedicated to Frozen fans and opened in Hong Kong on November 20.
The Frozen theme park with Elsa's Ice Palace, North Mountain, ice fountain, clock tower where Anna and Prince Hans sang "Love is an open door" and familiar characters such as Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Sven debuted in Asia on November 20.
It is known that Disney Imagineers spent more than 3 years to conceptualize and design this theme park in Hong Kong. Although the first Frozen movie was released in 2013 and Frozen II was released in 2019, it has a huge fan base from children to adults.
In the Frozen Kingdom, actors playing Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff will walk around to interact and take pictures with visitors. Instead of scheduled performances, a band will occasionally walk around the park to play music for everyone to enjoy.
Hong Kong's World of Frozen features two rides: the Wandering Oaken roller coaster and a high-speed roller coaster that offers views of Arendelle Castle and Frozen Ever After. A ride will also feature Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Marshmallow, Sven the reindeer, Olaf the snowman and Pabbie the troll. As visitors glide through Frozen Ever After, songs from the film will be played for everyone to enjoy.
Michael Moriarty, CEO of Hong Kong Disneyland, called “World of Frozen” the most immersive attraction we have ever built. He added that the decision to bring World of Frozen to Hong Kong was influenced by the unique natural elements of Lantau Island, where Hong Kong Disneyland is located. With Lantau’s landscape and rolling mountains, creating a Frozen world made sense and Hong Kong should be the first place to build it.
Visitors can admire the 19th-century Norwegian Dragestil-inspired architecture on storefronts throughout World of Frozen and the stylized motifs that feature the artistry on the cast’s costumes. Additionally, the menu at Golden Crocus in “World of Frozen” is also inspired by Norwegian cuisine .
At night, the “World of Frozen” will light up with Elsa’s “Ice Magic” as the Ice Palace, Arendelle Castle and the Friendship Fountain light up in a distinctive icy blue. Although it hardly snows in Hong Kong, November is the end of autumn and the average temperature is still a pleasant 24 degrees Celsius, perfect for strolling around the world of Frozen.
