- On the morning of October 29, Working Group No. 2 of the Ministry of Health led by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Nhu Duong, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, inspected, supervised, and directed the work of disease prevention, control, water treatment, and environmental sanitation after storms No. 10 and 11 and floods in Lang Son province.

Receiving the delegation were leaders of the Department of Health, representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the Huu Lung Regional Medical Center, and the People's Committee of Yen Binh commune.

After two storms No. 10 and 11 accompanied by prolonged heavy rain, Lang Son province suffered heavy damage with more than 5,900 households affected, many roads, irrigation works and medical facilities were deeply flooded and landslides, with an estimated total damage of over 2,000 billion VND. In this situation, the provincial health sector has urgently deployed synchronous measures to control and prevent epidemics from arising after floods.

Specifically, the Department of Health has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a directive document, activate rapid response teams, and mobile anti-epidemic teams in key areas; strengthen epidemiological surveillance, proactively spray disinfectants, and treat the environment in deeply flooded areas such as Yen Binh, Van Nham, That Khe, Tuan Son... The Provincial Center for Disease Control has received and distributed over 800 kg of Cloramin B for environmental disinfection, 540 kg of Chlorine chemicals, 48,000 disinfectant tablets, and many medical supplies to support environmental sanitation and epidemic prevention in flooded areas...

Working with the inspection team, representatives of the Provincial Department of Health and the Huu Lung Regional Medical Center recommended that the Ministry of Health and its affiliated units continue to pay attention to providing professional support, providing epidemic prevention materials, and helping localities increase their capacity to monitor, test, and handle the environment after storms and floods.

In his concluding remarks at the inspection, the head of the Ministry of Health delegation highly appreciated the initiative of the provincial health sector and local medical facilities in responding to and preventing epidemics after storms and floods. At the same time, he also noted a number of issues that need continued attention, such as: strengthening the inspection of the quality of domestic water sources in deep flooded areas, supporting the addition of disinfectants, Cloramin B, rapid water source testing equipment, continuing to propagate and instruct people to proactively practice personal hygiene and use clean water safely. In particular, medical facilities need to quickly restore operations, ensure uninterrupted operation of basic medical activities, carry out expanded vaccination well; ensure clean water for people; review, grasp and control epidemics after storms and floods, ensuring the protection and care of people's health.
During the program, the delegation inspected the environmental sanitation work, domestic water treatment and disease surveillance after storms and floods at Yen Binh Commune Health Station, Huu Lung Water Supply Branch (Huu Lung Commune) and Huu Lung Regional Health Center.
