The head of the delegation is Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration. The three deputy heads of the delegation include: Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh (Head of the High Performance Sports Department), Mr. Le Thanh Ha (Deputy Head of the High Performance Sports Department) and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Long (Deputy Director of the National Sports Training Center).

According to the decision of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the state budget will cover the expenses for 952 members, including international and domestic air tickets, excess baggage, accommodation, pocket money, visa and passport fees, domestic travel, office rental, training and competition grounds, etc. The remaining 213 members will attend the Congress using local or socialized funding.

SEA Games 33 is expected to have 50 official sports, including 574 events with a total of 569 sets of medals. In addition, the host country will organize 3 more demonstration sports: discus throw, tug of war and aerial sports. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation will participate in 47 sports, aiming to win over 80 gold medals.

Up to now, there are only 4 teams of men's and women's football and men's and women's futsal that have not yet finalized their official rosters. It is expected that the Vietnam U22 team and the Vietnam women's team will both bring 31 members (23 players) to Thailand. The two teams of men's and women's futsal have 20 members each. In all 4 football events, the common goal is to reach the finals.

The 33rd SEA Games were originally scheduled to take place from December 9 to December 20 in Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla. However, due to severe flooding in Songkhla, all competitions scheduled to be held there were moved to Bangkok.

The first Vietnamese teams will depart for Thailand on December 1. The last group of athletes will return home on December 21, one day after the closing ceremony of the Games.
