European businesses join Ho Chi Minh City in building a green economy

(HTV) - The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) held the Excellent Business Awards Ceremony and announced the orientation for sustainable development, connecting Vietnamese and EU businesses, with the participation of Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung.

This year’s theme conveys the message of solidarity for sustainable growth, from young start-ups to multinational corporations. The Vietnamese private sector is joining the government and the international community in moving towards an era of green, innovative and inclusive development.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung emphasized that 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the European Union (EU). He acknowledged the positive contributions of EuroCham since 1998 in bridging the gap between European businesses and Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the fields of innovation, education, environment and sustainable investment.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung shared: "I believe that this will be a driving force for European businesses to increase their presence in Ho Chi Minh City, promoting cooperation in key areas such as finance, green transformation, digital transformation, advanced education systems and emerging industries such as semiconductors. We hope you will further promote the achievements and continue to contribute to the economy of Ho Chi Minh City."

On the European business side, Mr. Bruno Jaspaert - Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam affirmed that the association will strengthen connections, build green supply chains and support Vietnamese businesses to explore new cooperation opportunities in Europe, while taking advantage of the EU's "global gateway" strategy for Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
