TPO – Not only continuing to support the people in the North affected by storm No. 3, many businesses in the South also rushed to bring goods and necessities to localities in the Central region being ravaged by storm No. 4 .
Delivering dozens of tons of goods to the Central region
On September 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives ( Saigon Co.op ) said that the Co.opmart supermarket system in the Central region (from Thanh Hoa province to Binh Thuan province) has prepared a response plan for storm No. 4.

Accordingly, Saigon Co.op has quickly increased its stock of goods by 3 times compared to normal days. Essential goods that have been increased include rice, instant noodles, sugar, fish sauce, cooking oil, vegetables, pork, beef, chicken of all kinds, etc.
“Saigon Co.op distribution centers nationwide have planned transportation and timely regulation of goods for the Co.op supermarket system in the Central region. Of which, 800 points of sale have also become satellite warehouses, storing goods in a unified and effective manner. Co.opmarts and Co.op Foods in the Northern region have quickly overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 Yagi , ready to bring goods that have been previously stored by the system to support the Central region,” said a representative of Saigon Co.op.
Not only proactively providing abundant sources of goods, this system also increases sources of goods from raw material areas and available sources in the provinces; especially meat, poultry of all kinds, and vegetables and fruits.

On the other hand, the supermarket continues its non-profit sales program, maintains stable prices, and implements special pricing policies for strategic items during the rainy season such as vegetables, fruits, purified water, and instant foods that do not require processing.
From now until September 22, the MM Mega Market system will add two more trucks to transport vegetables and fruits (equivalent to 10 tons) from Lam Dong to the MM Mega Market Da Nang center, from there continuing to deliver goods to other distribution centers in the Central region.
This supermarket also commits to ensuring a full range of other fresh items such as meat and fish, including imported frozen goods from 12-15 tons; with fresh goods, the reserve quantity is 3 times higher than usual. At the same time, MM commits to keeping prices stable.
Non-profit sales
Not only delivering goods to storm-affected areas to stabilize market prices, Southern businesses have increased production and sold goods at no profit to people in flood-affected areas.
During this time, KIDO Group's production workers were mobilized to speed up processing and producing food to give to people in difficult areas in the North affected by storm No. 3. Tens of thousands of dumplings, thousands of boxes of fresh cakes and biscuits were given to people by the company. KIDO has also implemented a buy 2 get 1 free program for any products, for volunteer groups when buying products to help flood victims. The program is expected to last until the end of September 2024.

Vietnam Livestock Industry Corporation – Vissan offers a 5 – 20% discount to organizations and units that need to buy products to support people in the North.
Meanwhile, Saigon Co.op has launched the program “Non-profit goods for people and organizations providing relief to flood areas”. Co.opmart has prepared food and personal care bags for men and women with prices ranging from only 30,000 to 100,000 VND/portion, including purified water, milk, sausages, rice cakes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, personal items, etc. sold at cost price. Depending on the actual situation, Co.opmart supports the delivery of these orders to the requested location.
In addition to contributing 1.2 billion VND to support the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to help people in the North, Lazada Vietnam also brought 34,000 essential goods such as milk, cakes, mineral water, laundry detergent, toothpaste... to Lao Cai and Yen Bai to support people there.
Ms. Pham Thi Huan - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Ba Huan Company said that they are supplying the market with more than 1 million eggs per day, a slight increase compared to normal and can still meet 1.5 million, even 2 million eggs for the end of the year to support the Northern market if needed.
